News courtesy of Steve Marinucci's Beatles Examiner. He posted the following: “Wonderwall” coming to DVD: Shout Factory has announced the 1968 film “Wonderwall” is to be released on Blu-ray on March 25, reports Blu-ray.com. The long out-of-print DVD will also be re-released separately. The movie features music by George Harrison and stars Jack MacGowran as the eccentric Prof. Oscar Collins and Jane Birken as Penny Lane (no kidding). The cast includes Anita Pallenberg, who was linked at various times to Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Brian Jones. http://www.examiner.com/article/bea...phy-sequel-examines-legend-wonderwall-blu-ray http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=12971
That's good news but what about a remastered soundtrack? I've always liked the music from this movie and the cd has been out of print for some time. Surely now would be the time to upgrade it along with the movie. Oh but just a minute, this is Apple we're talking about ....
I guess it's a question of if it'll sell or not. There hasn't been anything from the Harrison camp in a while, so who knows?
Finally got the blu-ray. Lots of bonus features, including footage of The Beatles. I bought a boxed set edition of this film several years ago, which included a DVD, CD-single, vinyl single and other items. I wonder how rare it is now?
Yes, and here is some info: George Harrison & Kula Shaker :: Wonderwall - The Movie [Collector's Edition DVD Box Set] Kula Shaker Get George Harrison's Blessing
Here are screenshots from the Blu-ray if you need a refresher. http://doblu.com/2014/04/01/wonderwall-blu-ray-review/
Blu Ray what's it like ? I have the DVD. Good soundtrack by George Harrison M.B.E. The 1968 film stars the delectable Jane Birkin.
The film transfer on the Blu-ray is a mixed bag but I don't anticipate any better version ever coming out. The music is heard in completely lossless sound quality, which is nice.
