Lou Reed is on that album, you know.

I agree that this is bad but it's how I came to know the song initially.

That has been stuck in my head ever since! I still love "Good Vibrations" but it's been impossible for me to dissociate the the two.

Yes, in all likelihood it is Reed who sings lead on "Surfin'" and "Little Deuce Coupe"( although he never acknowledged performing on this album, he would have been employed by Pickwick/Design at the time of it's recording)...it sounds like they buried him
in the mix to cover all the flat notes:

There was also a "New Surfsiders", although they were purposely terrible:

Ian McNabb (Icicle Works) did a cover of "Caroline No" which does it for me every time. Possibly the worst cover by anyone, ever.

This made Brian cry when he heard it. Hearing it is the worst thing that ever happened to Brian Wilson

    There's 2 versions.
The 1st one is from the album....(same as above post)
    The 2nd one is worse......(starts at 3:33)

Even with the off-key lead singer, I like this better than the smarmy sounding Beach Boys' version. It's got humor and energy. Also, the background vocal arrangement is interesting. It could've really been something with a decent lead singer.

This was produced by sunshine pop genius Curt Boettcher, and is ten times better than the original!

Ha Ha...version 1 is just sort of dull and uninteresting, but version 2 sends the hilarity into the stratosphere.
    Keith's falsetto is excruciatingly awful!

Yes, that is Lou, I can still recognize his voice despite the bad mix. It's no wonder he's been so volatile all these years.

Now.... first, let me say.. I LOVE David Thomas, but, I'm sure for most of you, his 'singing' on this cover leaves little to be desired. So, I post it here, for all of you!

    This amounts to self-sabotage.
