I love most of 'The Beach Boys' Christmas Album', but this one drives me up a wall.
What does 'Entry of The Gladiators' (aka 'Circus Music') have to do with Xmas or Santa Claus anyway?

There's a version of 'You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch' that was on the 'Holiday Pop' playlist we were forced to play in the store I used to run. I don't know who it was, it was a group whose name I can't remember with a female singer.

It would have been decent enough but the girl could not hit the notes, every time she tried to sing 'Mr griii-iinch' it was a trainwreck.

The original by Thurl Ravenscroft is so iconic, I would never try it, so I guess they get some credit for that.

    Irrational, inexplicable, unforgivable covers:

    Glee Cast (2010)
    Red Wanting Blue (2011)
    Ceelo Green (2012)

(Edit: I see lanuaditis posted this song also! I wonder if any of the versions I looked up fit his post...)

Madonna's "Santa Baby." That voice .... ugh. I turn the channel every time that comes on. Michael Buble's "Santa Buddy" is almost as bad, but as corny as his is at least he doesn't sound like a chipmunk stuck in a garbage disposal.

Dang......Czech singer Lucia Bila did an english version of "Jingle Bell" [yup, singular] that was awful. Just checked YT but it seems she figured out it should be plural.

Can I nominate ALL of Pentatonix Christmas covers?
Yes, I understand that they are great with very versatile vocal gymnastics, but everything I've heard by them discards Melody for Style.

Generally, I prefer my Christmas songs to be sung traditionally, and not like an American Idol performance seeking impression points.

    ^^ Love this comment! :biglaugh:

Totally agree with you about that Madonna travesty (easily one of the worst recordings ever for me!), but of course, no disrespect to the Chipmunks, whose "Christmas Don't Be Late" is actually a holiday favorite of mine:

Posting this again, with a link. And yes, kw21925, this is worse than Streisand. Much worse.

Yes, no disrespect for Alvin and Co. for sure! They certainly don't sound like a woman past her prime (in my opinion) trying to regain lost youth and/or show Santa where he can put his peppermint stick.

Does it count as 'covers' if they are standard Christmas carols?

I think this could be a contender for worst cover in the other sense of the word too.

I think Mike Love's off-key vocal is the worst offender on this cover, although the circus bits are stupid and annoying too.

I'll second the nomination. They're no doubt talented, but all their stuff starts sounding the same after a while. I think they're a colossal bore.

Contrast them with the Manhattan Transfer. Whom I think are great.
