Haven't heard the stereo mix of "Mustang Sally" but agree about Renee.

Shame also about the stereo mix of "Reach Out (I'll Be There)". That's a real musical crime.

Have to disagree, overall this is one of the early Beatles albums I really enjoy in stereo (though not as much as BEATLES FOR SALE).

If you'd said RUBBER SOUL, I'd have agreed with you.

That whole sucker is re-channeled except for the "Sell Out" tracks.
I like that album since it has allot of Entwistle songs, but uses a inferior mix of "Dr. Jeckle & Mr. Hyde".
It would be cool to see Universal issue of "The Ox" (Backtrack 14)
and tack on his B-sides and songs from Who's Next, Odds & Sods, By Numers, and Who Are You.

    Side 1:
    1. Heinz Baked Beans
    2. Heaven And Hell
    3. Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde *
    4. Fiddle About
    5. Cousin Kevin
    6. Doctor Doctor *
    Side 2:
    1. Medac
    2. Boris The Spider
    3. I’ve Been Away
    4. Whiskey Man
    5. In The City
    6. Someone’s Coming *
    7. Silas Stingy
    * on Magic Bus LP.

Another for the "worst stereo mix award"
Fleetwood Mac - Blues Jam In Chicago.
Guitars and vocals on the left channel, drums and bass on the right.

As much as I love Caravan (and I absolute LOVE this song), this ranks among the worst ever stereo mixes

Voice is so hard-panned and barely audible through the entire song. Can't believe how bad is this mix :shake:
This is the most panned voice I've ever heard. At least on the infamous 'Rubber Soul' mixes you can still hear vocals

I'm generally not a Mono Snob, but I'm amazed at how awful the stereo mix of There's a Ghost in My House by R. Dean Taylor is compared to the mono. Just completely sucks the life out of the song. Sad.

Am I the only one who tames the Beatles' extreme pans for headphone listening?

No. I've done that for all the "hole in the middle" mixes. (Done in Logic though)

Sgt Peppers is so dead panned, if you are out a speaker you don't hear half the instruments (happened to me in bad cars)!

Let Her Dance is killer in stereo; a lot of the others are lopsided.

The bass guitar sound is nasty, almost makes the song unlistenable
Your Gonna Lose That Girl - conga drums mixed up way too much. Drives me nuts.

I was noticing the mix of The Byrds' "Turn! Turn! Turn!" yesterday and was wondering why it would have been mixed with the instrumentation in mono panned slightly to the right and the harmony vocals in mono panned mostly to the left. Is there a different mix available?

I always thought that no one ever knew the real name of the song because Dowd stuck a post-it over the real title on the tape box as a reminder to himself-

First time I heard the album with headphones was a few years after having played through it on speakers. And when Good Morning Good Morning came on, I thought something was wrong with my ears!!!

There is an unoverdubbed "stereo" version available, with the instruments on the left, and the vocals on the right.

My copy of the Surfin' USA album is mono.I have not heard a stereo copy in decades. Was this album Duophonic?

Any "stereo" Beach Boys record from the 60s is torture on the ears.
