Everyone knows by now that russian president Medvedev is an audiophile, hard rock fan and vinyl collector. But it seems the guy updraded his system since the old pics in a major way. Looks pretty impressive.

Here's a link to every component.

Too bad the bloggers comments are in russian as they are pretty hilarious. One guy suggested that Technics is used for listening to vintage KGB surveillance tapes...:D

  2. That's very impressive but he can really afford to upgrade from the CDX2 to the 555.

Looks like breakfast - so a glass of milk is not so out of place.

Yeah, but that's probably just for the photograph. I'll bet they have beers hidden under the table so that when the ties come off they can start banging their heads to "Deep Purple In Rock"! :D

  7. This is breakfast, you can have caviar for breakfast but it's a well established rule not to have vodka and strippers before 11am. ;)

I think it's probably not milk but kefir, russian traditional yogurt-like drink. Great stuff btw and perfect way to start a day or cure a hangover...:D

He should pull the speakers out from the walls and throw down some floor covering and are they in the 'sweet spot'?

Where's the listening chair and that table doesn't help.

    He shoulda' bought Bose :)

Yep. The bloggers calculated the system cost at minimum $175 000 and most likely 200 grand which is like 80 % of Medvedev's annual sallary. The speakers alone cost 75 grand and he has like 4 monoblocks biamped. Of course even if he's the least corrupt politician in the whole country the guy used to be Gazprom chairman for several years so he's supposed to be able to afford it....

I also hate the glass shelves of the equipment rack. Glass kills the sound in my experience. Put 'em on wood me says.

    Thanks. Sounds good to me.

  15. I love kefir for breakfast, and yes, it works miracles on hangovers.

Does anyone has any experience with Daniel Hertz speakers? Both pre and power amps are also their. I think it's Swiss. The AVID turntable looks neat as well.

  18. As you said, I don't think he has to worry about money.

What happens to the gear when Medvedev leaves office? Is it government property?

I doubt it, but hey he will have something similar or better at his house in Moscow his summer residence and on his yacht etc. He probably has a top car stereo as well. What car does he drive ? Bentley , Rolls, Porsche, mercedes, BMW , Range Rover , jaguar or some unique russian special ?
Once an audiophile always an audiophile.
I like the style of those pictures. Both look pretty good for politicians - even at western standards.
Just remember Boris Jelzin or those communist great grand fathers before Putin ?
And the stereo is far out, man.

OMG, that is probably at the Kreml, as well.
picture 1 shows the complete Krel era from the moskwa and pic 2 the home of the russian president since 1995 inside the Kreml walls.
Well that is a luxury states home.

Well the Zar used this bell, but it is broken.
Nowadays the president uses cellphones or the same inside communication systems found at the white house I guess ....:)
