Count Me In! I see no tapes from the Anderson Theater in Chicago 1968, too bad. Would have preferred chronological order and no interview segments.

Three versions of Dazed and Confused live and Jake Holmes is credited as writer on all three. Interesting.

Easy Action is the best record co. name I've heard since the short-lived Arrest Records from the 70s.

    Marc,
Thank you so much for posting this. For a long time last year, I had a Yardbirds unreleased live box set listed on my dry-erase board I keep here in my computer room which lists all releases I would potentially want to buy. At some point late last year, I gave up because I was thinking that perhaps the licensing was becoming a nightmare for the people compiling this sort of set. It is great to see this news revived. I will definitely be picking this up as I am a huge Yardbirds fan.

I'm stunned to see this. I've heard some of this unreleased stuff before (the live Curtis Mayfield track "I've Been Trying" is worth the price alone). But I give it about 15 minutes on the market before someone slaps an injunction on it. Get it while you can.

Anderson Theater was in New York, and you'll never see it released because Page now owns all the tapes.

Wow; interesting, Restorer. "I've been trying' is one of my fav Curtis Mayfield tracks, a stunning song. Never heard the Yardbirds do it, but look forward to.

Great post, marc; thanks for sharing this. Sure, I would have preferred chronological order and interview segments on a seperate disc, but those are minor quibbles. About time for a real Yardbirds box set.

That is a shame, because that concert features an excellent performance by the band at the end of their time together. I feel very fortunate to have been able to get the reissue Mooreland Street records officially released in 2000 until Page filed suit to have it withdrawn from the marketplace.

In my haste to post yes I got the city wrong. The original LP was on Epic. I've owned the Columbia Special Products release from 1976 since I picked it up in 1977 for $1.65 at Eglin Air Force Base. Page had it yanked in 1971 and 76 then again in 2000 for the CD release. I know most here hate it but it is one of my favorite live albums.

The only thing offensive about it is the flown in crowd noise. The playing is excellent. The guitar intro to Heart Full Of Soul from the end of Mister You're A Better Man Than I gives me chills every time I hear it. White Summer cooks and you get to hear Dazed and Confused titled Confused in its infancy. So what''s not to like?

Thanks for the heads up. Interesting info on the Easy Action Website....

"Drummer Jim McCarty is helping out as we speak with various bits n pieces. It is unlikely that we will get any help from the string of transient guitarists the band boasted but hey thats their prerogative."

I'd put the word "officially" in quotes. There was nothing official about that CD. I have it too. It consisted of a needle drop and edited-in bootlegged segments. To my knowledge, nothing was licensed from either Sony or the band. But what really pi$$ed off Page was the fact that Dazed and Confused was now credited to Jake Holmes, rightly or wrongly. And that is what seems to be happening on this new box set.

As I said, I'm waiting for the smackdown as soon as it's released. So my order will be in ASAP.

Most of the Jimmy Page-related tracks have been previously-released numerous times. Two of the songs from French TV 1968 (Train Kept A-Rollin & Goodnight Sweet Josephine) are well-circulated on video although they've never been on CD before.

I hope that the final 3 tracks on Disc 4 are from "Music Hall de France" -- that is the only known live recording of the Beck/Page lineup, and it just surfaced recently.

I'm curious about the version of "Dazed And Confused" from Disc 4. It's probably not the BBC version (from Disc 1) or the French TV version (Disc 2). It might be the Anderson Theater version, but why would they include that but not the rest of the show?

Are you sure that Page actually owns the tapes? I thought Epic destroyed them, either by choice (because they saw no need to keep the old recordings once the fake-audience "masters" were created) or by court order (from Page in 1971).
