I have a vague memory of 'cassette-tape' recording it, when I was young!

Ha! I did the same thing with the end part, when the Beatles make their live appearance. I didn't have a cassette, but a small reel - reel tape recorder. Wish I had that still.

I remember it being on television very late at night on a local station in St. Louis (KPLR maybe?). I remember it being fuzzy so it may have been a UHF channel at the time. Most likely it was 1987 or 1988. My brother and I stayed up to watch it. I also have a vague memory of one of us not staying awake since it was very late.

It certainly reran here many times both network and later syndication here in the Southern Calif. market.

I remember that TV Guide listed it in their "close-up" as being included (erroneously listing the title as "Northern Song"), but it was missing.

I remember it being shown in syndication locally on KPTV channel 12 in Portland in 1976 with all the songs intact. Channel 12 showed it several times over the next few years.

YS was severely edited for it's CBS premiere.

    All this was cut:
Pepperlanders shot by Meanie splotch guns.
Most of the glove attacking Fred.
    The quartet shot.
    Ringo with the policeman.
    Wax figures of superheroes.
George changing the colors on the car.
Long sound fx of car crash.
    Only A Northern Song
    Beatles asking directions in Phrenology.
Meanie wakes and runs from bagpipe.
    Beatles as Apple Bonker
    Max gives Chief Nasty Medicine
    Ringo checking John's mouth
    Boob challenging Blue Menial.

That brought the 85 minute film down to just over 60 minutes.

And if you must have an audio recording of this edit, you're in luck. Just
track down a copy of CINELOGUE YELLOW SUBMARINE. This is a 70's
    double-lp bootleg of the soundtrack.
    It's bad.
CBS only repeated this edit in July of 1974.
    Good riddance.

I vaguely remember the 1972 broadcast.
What I do not remember is “You’re Elected Charlie Brown” as the lead in. I was a huge Peanuts fan- almost as much as I was a Beatles fan!- and I recorded every Peanuts special onto cassette at the time up until the Arbor Day special when I lost interest. I indeed recorded the Peanuts show, but didn’t record Yellow Submarine! Maybe it was a later rebroadcast of the Peanuts show I’d recorded.

I do remember the ‘74-‘75 airings. In July ‘74 my family stayed a week at Newport Beach in a waterfront house. We didn’t bring along a TV, and there was no TV in the rental. I knew Yellow Submarine was going to be on, and my friend and I were very disappointed we would miss it!

I didn’t see it on TV again until a few years later, when they showed it on local TV station KTTV. I did record that one! I recall after the movie there was some kind of a tongue-in-cheek, mock-up panel discussion about the movie’s “message”.......

Yellow Submarine was one of the first United Artists films with the 1968 logo. I've heard claims that the USA prints had a fanfare, but they turned out to be false, when I came upon one on eBay in October 2017. I knew it was the original USA print, because there was also a 1968 MPAA G Rating on the eBay listing.

When you recorded Peanuts onto cassette do you mean audio cassette? Did they exist in 1972?

    Yes- audio cassette.
    I got my first recorder/player on 1970.

If you can't tell who made that film print, consult your eye doctor.
