A Close To The Edge Battle Royal between Hoffman and Wilson? Can't wait!

PS: Relayer and Topographic Oceans please.

I just hope he does not change the mix too much. There are sections where I hope he does not change the mix at all. He usually does a great job IMO.

Hope you're right, time will tell. This is the BIG Yes album......

Alright! Finally a 5.1 mix of a classic Yes album that will be worth owning. Maybe if this is successful they'd let him have a go at The Yes Album and Fragile too. Count me in on this one! Whoooo! :righton:

If this sounds anything like his Aqualung work, I'll be happy to add it to my collection. Although I have about 3-4 copies of this album as it is, including the SACD.

Wilson's version will wipe the floor clean with Hoffman's SACD (and not just because this new reissue will also contain the original mix in high-res too) :)

You might know, but there already is a 5.1 mix of Fragile.

The SACD will be probably stay the best version of the original mix.

HDTracks already issued an allegedly flat transfer of the master tapes.

Yeah - I have that DVD-A and it's really a lost opportunity, unfortunately. I'm certain Steven Wilson could work wonders with a new surround mix. Seems like whoever put together that old DVD-A barely tried.

Myself (and many others) aren't a big fan of the 5.1 mix that's already been released, so here's to hoping that a SW mix will be released at some point too!

Also, recently, Wilson's remixes on these DVD-As have been flat transfers as well with no mastering, so hopefully the same will apply with CTTE! :)

This is being released by Panegyric, same who do the KC 40th releases. Notes will be done by Sid Smith too.

That doesn't help, but that's fine. It's obviously just a band I don't know. I have no idea what your avatar is other than a scared looking face.

it is the sleeve of the very first lp from King Crimson named " in the court of Crimson King"
    quote :
Recorded over a period of 10 days in August 1969 & released on October 10th of the same year "In The Court Of The Crimson King" stands as one of the defining albums of British rock music & one of the finest debut albums of all time. Described at the time as "an uncanny masterpiece" by Pete Townshend, the album has achieved legendary status over the years. It is the only studio document of an extraordinary year in the life of King Crimson; a year that began with the group's first rehearsals on January 13th, included a residency at the Marquee Club, a concert in Hyde Park with The Rolling Stones, the recording and release of the album and ended with the dissolution of the lineup at the close of Crimson's 1st American tour in December.

surprised u dont know this ... or maybe it is a new version of humour from Texas.

What is the word on the Trilogy and Benefit sets?
Is CTTE sacd or dvd audio?

Benefit - last word was October
Trilogy - nothing definite, last I heard was "stay tuned, news coming soon"
CTTE SACD or DVD-A? - was not mentioned yet, I suppose could also be blu-ray

These CD re-issues cover different markets. Some music fans hate re-mixes, some hate 5.1 mixes, some prefer only the original mixes. These 2 issues will please all buyers. I personally love 5.1 music when done right.
