Just as well. The less my wallet knows what's going on, the better.

He has also started skipping the mastering engineer entirely with his most recent releases, I believe both Storm Corrosion and Raven were pressed directly from his final mix.

I think after the Aqualung and Thick as a Brick digital versions were more squashed than he would have liked (and a little too bright) that he did the above.

Are there any more Yes titles in there?

Bear in mind that the XTC albums are also a 'series'. I think SW has mentioned forthcoming Jethro Tull as well.

Funny - everyone was whining here when these releases are put out on dvd and NOT dvd-a. Nobody's ever happy around here.

    I was thinking the same.

I remember when items were announced as DVD-A. It was heaven on earth on this forum

Why? Blu-ray audio = DVD-a, same same :bone: , decimated PCM.

Ya' coulda' had a Hybrid SACD!

Just a heads up, Stuart Maconie is playing the whole record on his BBC 6 Music show tonight. Playing it out of sequence though, he's already played You & I. Nice to hear that music on the radio though.

  13. Just curious as to why you think this is "highly likely to happen"? For the record, I sure as heck hope you are right!

Steven Wilson has never used SACD. Why are you surprised this isn't? The number of facilities that can author and edit multi-tracks to DSD are few. I spoke to reknowned recording engineer Peter McGrath (also works at Wilson Audio) who said multi-tracking PCM is far easier. So that's what he uses when he records classical. The results? Incredible.

This may be one of these cases where I simply don't understand the limitations of a format but ... I thought that blu-ray supported just about the highest quality digital audio currently available. What advantages are you finding in SACD?

Would be nice, but I doubt they'll do all these. Just hoping for Tales and Relayer myself.

Where are these Panegyric releases available at? Didn't see them on Amazon.

There are so many albums I would like to see in hi-rez I just don't understand a second version of CTTE, even if it is in surround and Dvd-a. I am not listening to surround much these days but do still like it fr live recordings. Blu-ray is a total pain in the ass for music. The discs can take a few minutes to load, you have to watch the FBI screen and if you stop the disc you have to go through it all over again. I will avoid music blu ray releases if possible.

Some of us have surround systems in our cars that play DVD-A, so it's anything but a waste!

Actually it's 3 programs, including HDTRACKS.

Blu-ray has got to be the most common option for surround and hi res in most people's homes.

I know in the threads about Steve's masterings of Close To The Edge and Going For The One there were people who had never heard these albums before, but would buy them because of the mastering (what a strange, lovely place this is!).

I bet there will be far more Yes fans that will think, "My favorite Yes album, in surround, on Blu-ray?!? I can actually play that!"

I'm constantly surprised how many people here don't have an Oppo player. Playing any of these formats is never a concern for me...

Nothing wrong with 5.1 PCM when it is done right.
