This one's a no-brainer for me. I've never owned a CD copy of this that sounded good. Would love to hear more Yes on AF in the future.

Finally...an album I really like and which hasn't been audiophile issued to death...In for this...

I've never had this album before but I will purchase it. I kind of burnt out of Yes in the 80's and stopped buying discs before getting to this album. Now I am back in the Yes groove and looking forward to Steve's version.

Sound of the original lp is kind of marginal too. Be interesting to hear how this turns out :)

Gorilla. Steve had a thread pinned here earlier this week inviting one person to a mastering session on April 10th. Based on his post in this thread, I guess the mastering session has been pushed back.

Sorry if my question brings a snicker -

When Steve does an SACD job, is the regular CD layer improved too?

    Thanks!

Cool news! It's not my favorite Yes album in the world, but I'll definitely check it out (and keep my fingers crossed for Topographic Oceans!).

I hope we get an update from the crew as to how the mastering session went.

Great news! Close to the Edge sounds great on AF SACD, hoping for similar with this release.

Not to be greedy, but when do the Genesis titles start to show up on AF? I know it's complicated getting the license stuff ironed out--but we can wish

  13. Steve's practice is to do a simultaneous split-feed into both the DSD and PCM mastering hardware from the analogue console, to ensure both layers get the same audio quality...

I know gold can be spread awfully thin, but at $1,579 per ounce (as of today), it is in no way an insignificant part of the overall batch cost.

Would you like anything else, sir? Perhaps AF can come by and wash your car while they are granting all of your other requests.:angel::laugh:

Hell, I was going to list Magnification, Open Your Eyes and Fly From Here but I did not want to appear gluttonous nor to be afflicted with too severe a case of Lack Of Yes Discernment On Reissues I Would Buy Again.

Is this another case of the original multitrack tapes being lost just like Close To The Edge? If not, why merely remaster it? Why not remix it as well, and get a 5.1 mix in the process.
Steven Wilson bowed out of further ELP remixes cos he's just not into their music enough, but I wonder how he feels about Yes and if he'd remix any of their albums. I'm certainly happy with his handling of the King Crimson albums he did...

My wife is out of town for a week. I'm sure she would be none the wiser if I rummaged through her jewelry box for a donation to the cause. ;)
