With all the thinking about John Lennon I've been doing today, I was considering checking out a Yoko Ono album or two, mainly "Plastic Ono Band" and "Fly" where John is a major contributor, musically.

I was curious if anyone here on the forum has heard the 1997 Rykodisc CDs, the only CDs of this music, I believe.

I once borrowed "Plastic Ono Band" from a friend, the 1970 American vinyl pressing. I remember it sounding warm and punchy. I would hate it if that sound was missing from the CD...

    Any thoughts? Thanks as always...

Rob, if I were you I'd borrow it again.

Capitol reissue sounds good, but not as punchy as that Bell Sound issue....

I've got the original Apple US vinyls -- great Lennon guitar on those recordings if you can pick through it. Nice production and support players on those - Jack Douglas and Roy Cicala iirc, Clapton, Ringo, Jim Keltner,Hugh McCracken, et al.

It's a shame that all of the great John guitar work will likely be overlooked. If only someone could do a karaoke remix of some of those guitar tracks without the vocals [now THAT would be "no noise" :) ] ... and make a compilation.
