    1. Halloween(Original 1978)-Although, if you take away the Music, it is not really that scary, but a great example of a Film Score playing a vital role to create a Good Scare.
    2. Silence of the Lambs
    3. Let the Right One In(Sweden Original) & Let Me In(US Remake)-so count both as 1 Movie Selection. Best Vampires Movies I have seen.
    4. Audition
    5. Friday the 13th(I stay out of the woods even when Golfing, but that is due to fear of snakes)
    6. The Omen/The Omen Part 2(Combining these as one Selection as they seem like 1 Movie with 2 Parts, like the First 2 Godfather Movies)
    7. Scream(Opening Scene was one of the Best in a Horror Movie-IMO)
    8. 30 Days of Night(2nd Best Vampire Movie I have seen)
    9. Alien
    10. Saw

'Black Christmas' is also really good and from what I read a few years ago, was the first Slasher Movie(not counting 'Psycho') that was an influence on 'Halloween' being created, so I bought it.

Not a Movie, but thought the TV Series, 'Salem' that ended a few years ago and think had 3 Seasons was really good. I had a crush on Janet Montgomery, until I saw what her character would do to some Men in that show-haha.

I'm sure I've done this several times before, but here we go (not in any particular order):

    1. Night of the Demon
    2. The Haunting
    3. The Innocents
    4. Night of the Eagle
    5. Cat People (the original)
    6. The Changeling
    7. Bride of Frankenstein
    8. The Devil Rides Out
    9. The Leopard Man
    10. Dracula (1958 Hammer version)

Pushing it to twenty and doing a bit of genre bending:

    11. Alien
    12. Quatermass and the Pit
    13. Jaws
    14. Nosferatu
    15. Rosemary's Baby
    16. The Masque of the Red Death
    17. The Pit and the Pendulum
    18. Psycho
    19. The Fog
    20. The Wicker Man

I'm sure I must have missed out loads and it's very Anglo-American-centric and less on shock than atmosphere, for the most part, but...

Making lists of favorites is sometimes difficult for me. Often times certain titles I may mention on one list may change depending on my mood. I will do my best.

    Top 10

    1. The Exorcist - This is my favorite horror film. It also happens to be one of my favorite films ever.

    2. The Exorcist III

    3. Psycho

    4. Rosemary’s Baby

    5. Christine

    6. Silent Night Deadly Night

    7. Dawn Of The Dead (original)

    8. Fright Night

    9. Carrie

    10. A Nightmare On Elm Street part 2 - This one seems to be considered the worst. I read somewhere that part 3 was made in an attempt to erase it. I personally loved it above all the others. In my opinion, it was the darkest one. It’s the only one I ever watch anymore.

Seems to change retroactively - less effective over time.

    Still like J-horror.

    Halloween (original)
    Videodrome
    Zombi 2 (Fulci)
    The Beyond (Fulci)
    Suspiria (Argento)
Tenebrae (technically a giallo, I guess)
    The Haunting (1963)
    Frankenstein (Karloff)
Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (Hammer)
    Fiend Without a Face
    Cabinet of Caligari (original, silent)

That's off the top of my head - it's easily my favorite genre and I have literally hundreds of great titles.

ps: Alien would have easily have made the list, but to me it's Sci-Fi, not horror.
