    Love the genre--60's of course,
though the bands of the 1970's right up to now have created some amazing psych albums!

So whatever era's psych LP was your first, share it so we all can possibly make a new discovery too!

    Psychedelic!

    Share your first discoveries!!

My first was Blues Magoos...one of the earliest and best (1966)...one of the first to have "psychedelic" on the sleeve.

    And an encryptic song title....
    "Love Seems Doomed "--(LSD)

At about the same time I also purchased Freak Out!
(in my purple haze teen years, so which was really first...1966 was a good year!)

My dad played this one over and over. I was 6 years old. And I loved it. Honestly.
    I still love it. :)

Sgt. Pepper, IIRC. I discovered Revolver first, technically, but that's not really a psychedelic album as much as an album with a couple of psychedelic songs. I liked most of Are You Experienced at around the same time, but I didn't get the album until later.

It was my 16th yr old birthday in November of 1966. I had the 45 of "We Ain't Got Nothin Yet" by the Blues Magoos because my garage band The Glory Stompers were learning it.But on my birthday I bought Blues Magoos Psychedelic Lollipop LP & the Fugs 2nd album at the same time because I wanted our band to learn
Group Grope&Frenzy from the Fugs also.

First psychedelic albums I recall hearing while I was personally psychedelicized.........................After Bathing At Baxters - Jefferson Airplane , Balaklava - Pearls Before Swine , Mad River's first self titled album, Electric Music For The Mind And Body - Country Joe And The Fish.
All in the late 60s soon after they were released.

The Amboy Dukes - Journey to the Center of the Mind. Maybe...I think or could have been Are You Experienced.
