I see April 26 is winning - can these shows be got separately or is it a (doubtless very expensive) all or nothing?

    These shows are 3cds each:
    4/8, 4/11, 4/14, 4/24, 4/26, 4/29, 5/11, 5/18, 5/26

Theses shows are 4 cds each:
    5/3, 5/7, 5/10, 5/23.

If I am missing some I'm sure JERRY could fill the ones I missed

    My 5 picks are 4/26, 4/17, 5/26, ?, ?, ... I still have 150 shows that I haven't listened to yet :help:

these (except 5/7) can be remastered onto 3 cds each with
jams intact as long as you don't mind the ends of disc 2's
having the set 2 conclusions. I quite rather enjoyed resequencing
    many of them

    5/10 seems like a must-purchase for me.

I've always loved Rotterdam most, but after hearing Bickershaw recently, with the added classic punch of Dark Star and Lovelight, both are now tied as my favorites.

I read a comment that Bill K. said about the Europe 72 complete recordings...

"...there's one that has The Other One into some kind of jam, then back into The Other One - the music is just fantastic. It blows my mind to this moment."

My copy of Europe 72 Volume 2 has a 30 minute version of The Other One from 5/7/72 Bickershaw Festival, Wigan, England.

Does anyone know if this is the version that Bill speaks of? This version from 5/7/72 is nothing like I've heard before. I've never heard a musician play and tease a riff-melody like Garcia in this song.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure. He could also be describing the 5/26/72 Other One, or several others.

Hmmm....he co-authored the song. I'd love to hear the version he considers mindblowing this year.

I might have to get all the dates that have The Other One.

there is no way to tell which show Billy is talking about because that describes so many E72 jams, but if you really want the ultimate expression of this idea, proceed a year later to 11/14/73 and check out this jam:
Truckin > Other One > Big River > Other One > Eyes > Other One > Wharf Rat

Is there any difference in the Europe 72 version of the Rheinhalle, Dusseldorf, West Germany (4/24/1972) show that was previously released?

Yes, I find the boxset version much better sonically.

So the top 3 concerts per the poll results thus far are below. For those who may not have voted yet, is this the general consensus? If one was going to buy just one concert from this run, would the Frankfurt show be the top recommendation?

April 26 – Jahrhundert Halle, Frankfurt, West Germany
May 26 – Lyceum Theatre, London, England
    May 3 – L'Olympia Theatre, Paris, France

Well, "Europe 72" is a very well known album title and this is a music forum so it's not that far fetched. I've never heard the term "Europe 72" used in any other context than the Grateful Dead. Kind of like if I saw a thread title referring to Live at Leeds I'd assume it was about the Who but I guess it could be about any band that ever played Leeds.

I wonder if the 4/26 show is leading just because it's been widely available for much longer than the others commercially? Honestly, I got the set when it first came out and I'm only about halfway through so far. I've been listening to each show twice in the car and then once through my primary stereo at home so it's taking awhile for a guy that can't just listen to one band day after day without some variety. One thing is for sure though...there are a tremendous number of great shows and performances on this tour. I'm going to be listening to this release until the day I die. And I'd really like to find a way to take the replica steamer trunk and it's contents with me into the afterlife!
