I would say no.....4/26 very well might be the best one. The Other One is epic. When they selected that show for HYH, they knew what they were doing.

Even though I'm familiar with all of these shows, I'm going to hold off voting until I get through the box, which at this rate will be sometime in 2013. I just finished 4/24 and now I'm off to Frankfurt.

I agree these are great versions, the material from Skulls & Roses was from US tour(s). I have always felt that this is one of my favorite versions of Bertha. I didn't care for it as much when they slowed the tempo on this song.

    apparently well.

So the top 3 concerts per the poll results thus far are below. For those who may not have voted yet, is this the general consensus? If one was going to buy just one concert from this run, would the Frankfurt show be the top recommendation?

April 26 – Jahrhundert Halle, Frankfurt, West Germany
May 26 – Lyceum Theatre, London, England
    May 3 – L'Olympia Theatre, Paris, France

    I'd say 4/8 followed by 5/11.

Not a big Dead Fan. But I do enjoy their live shows. I do enjoy the hard core fans take on the better shows.

    Keep on parsing the shows!

Found this quote from David Lemieux. He thinks the 4/14 and 4/17 Copenhagen shows and the 5/11 Rotterdam shows are the best.

Lemieux's judgement is seriously clouded by 2 factors:

    1. being Canadian
    2. too much hockey

he is wrong, particularly regarding any praise of 4/14/72, which is a coke-fueled, nervous energy, negative vibe show

He is similarly deluded into thinking 11/25/73 is more than it is, and, it ain't much of anything

How's the performance quality and sound on the "Big River" soundcheck?

4/14 is very good, particularly that wailing transition from Dark Star to Sugar Mag.

I'd say 4/17 is one of my least favorite E72 shows, though it's nice though the video is nice.

I think 5/25 is the best Dark Star from E72

I enjoy your strong opinions (5/25 is indeed a great Dark Star, but 4/8 reigns supreme). Yet I can't shake the illusion that Terence Stamp is delivering these edicts in a voice of pure evil.

4/8 is my favorite E72 Dark Star and one of the best ever, along with 9/21/72 and 2/27/69

I have owned this box since September. Between this set, my other Dead and all of the other music, I have slowly moved through the 22 concerts. I am now about to listen to #22. Has anyone else taken this long to wor their way through the trunk?

    KNEEL BEFORE ZOD! :)

I am one of those folks who likes 2/14/70 better than 2/13/70, so no surprise the 4/8/72 Dark Star doesn't do it for me

It's been nearly a year since this was discussed. Is the consensus still that the following shows are among the top six?

April 26 Jahrhundert Halle, Frankfurt, West Germany
May 26 Lyceum Theatre, London, England
May 3 L'Olympia Theatre, Paris, France
April 8 Wembley Empire Pool, London, England
May 4 L'Olympia Theatre, Paris, France
May 11 Grote Zaal De Doelen, Rotterdam, Netherlands
