    (Leaving off Dick Van Dyke, Frasier, and others. I think that those two shows may have had the most consistency of any sitcoms, but if they were very reliably, say, and 8.5 on a 1-to-10 scale, while Seinfeld could range from a 4 to a strong 10 on any given episode, it's those "strong 10s" that stick in the brain. Another little side note: I love how willing Taxi was to end episodes on a very down, late-night-and-alone vibe, rather than "just being funny" all the time, and also without moving into "Tonight.....on a very special Taxi....." territory. The show had a very deft, gentle touch that way, and I wish more well-written sitcoms would do that.)

    Roseanne - first 6 seasons

    Many greats to choose from but these were consistent throughout their runs. Roseanne should be disqualified due to the poor quality of the remainder of it's seasons but the highs of those earlier shows cannot and should not be dismissed.
