What if The Turtles never broke up
What if Frank Zappa never had that incident at the Rainbow
What if Al Nichol never left the music industry

What if Waylon Jennings had boarded that plane rather than Buddy Holly?

    What if:

    Bob Marley hadn't died?
The Beatles Butcher cover wasn't withdrawn?
The Beatles had a TV show and the Monkees not invented?

Most likely, he would have been happier and more respected as an artist in his later years, and would have lived longer.

Somebody did a "What if" on Elvis-even using a Stevie Riks "Elvis sings Cash singing Reznor".

For me, other than Frank's suffering, all good things came from that. His voice was deepened (Love it!), Flo & Eddie were no more (never liked that version of the group) and Waka/Jawaka and Grand Wazoo were produced.

What if Paul had married Jane Asher but the Beatles had still broken up. Would Wings still be? Or would he have been solo throughout the 70s?

As Pet Sounds was virtually ignored in the US but a critical success in the UK, probably we in the UK would have loved it and the US would have ignored it.

For my $$$ it has to be if Duane lives and continues leading the Allman Bros. Band. What heights were they capable of with that amazing two-guitar attack of Duane and Dickey and that powerhouse of a backing band?!?

Some might say Jimi Hendrix and that's up there as well but as far as I know he was more of a solo act so I would think he would venture down the path of the likes of Jeff Beck or Steve Vai or Roy Buchanan, who knows, obviously. But man WHAT IF Duane lives? He was already bringing in horns during the Fillmore East run so he was being influenced not only by rock and soul but also jazz and horns. Great arrangements. Great covers of old blues tunes and great originals like Hot 'Lanta and Liz Reed.

    Thoughts?

    Two big ones for me:

What if John Lennon had lived and the Beatles recorded new songs for the Beatles Anthology.

What is Buddy Holly had lived? What kind of music would he is been recording circa 1968-1970?

What if the Turtles were early investors in Microsoft and Apple?
What if the Turtles decided to become french chefs and work only in four star restaurants?
What if the Turtles and the Blues Magoos were in a no holds barred cage match in Madison Square Garden promoted by Sid Bernstein?

  18. How would Charlie Parker have responded to Ornette Coleman's advancements?

(Hard to believe that Ornette's first album was recorded almost exactly 3 years after Parker's passing -- when sometimes it seems like they existed closer to a full decade apart from one another.)

First thing I thought was Duane, my next would be if that plane never went down carrying Lynyrd Skynyrd, all that great music that was never recorded.

Would "Smile" have cemented itself as a countercultural milestone instead of "Sgt Pepper" had it been completed? Would everyone on this forum be flipping out over "Holland" instead of "Abbey Road" if it had?

What if Lead Belly had lived another year or so and saw The Weavers's version of his song Goodnight Irene go straight to the top?
What if Kurt Cobain never offed himself and got around to doing that collaboration album with Michael Stype and did more music with Nirvana?
What if Bob "The Bear" Hite from Canned Heat, who loved the blues and had a huge collection of 78's and absolutely hated disco which was popular at the time of his death, didn't die in 1981 and got to see the blues explosion throughout the rest of the 80's?
What if Alan "The Blind Owl" Wilson, also from Canned Heat, didn't die in 1970 and created more amazing blues music with the Heat?
What if Robert Johnson had lived longer?
What if Elmore James didn't die just before the blues explosion in the 60's?
What if Stevie Ray Vaughan didn't die in that plane crash?
What if Andy Wood, singer for Mother Love Bone, never died and Mother Love Bone didn't become Pearl Jam with Eddie Vedder as their singer?
What if Randy Rhoads never died?
