A transcendent list of albums! All wonderful! And yes, the time of the LP had definitely come.

 

Magical Mystery Tour was thilling, indeed. I can think of about 20 things off the top of my head that commend it.

 

Oh yeah, that's my 2nd or 3rd (depending on the day) favorite Beatles album!

The Doors added such a new mysterious - kind of scary - dimension to the scene as we all know.
Whenever there was any discussion re: ‘ the underground’ i knew their music and image were the things
that most typified it. What pristinely subversive, transformative and powerful musicians we all had in them!

 

Yeah, if only Morrison hadn't been such a self-destructive drunk.

 

Magic Sam released 2 albums in his short life time. Both are essential listening & represent a different new sound (at the time).

 

Will have to check these out....interesting and different. Thank you.

Yeah, those are all top-notch albums, for sure.

 

I just think he rather loathed his success...seeing it, of course, as some sort of compromise to his strange ultimate goals.
He also just wanted to ‘see it all come down’ like many who you describe. He most likely would have grown out of much of it, I think. I feel much the sane about Kurt Cobain.

 

Many believe that Robert Cray "borrowed & updated" Magic Sam's image & style to great results a decade or so later.
