We should be very concerned since, if offended, they might decide to read us some of their poetry. However, there's someone on Earth who has far worse poetry.

I saw that film at a World Science Fiction Convention in Chicago. It was wonderful being in a theater filled with people who knew and loved the film - everyone whistling the theme song, and shouting along:

    Where are we going?

    Planet Ten!

    When are we going?

    Real soon!

From the "Lost in Space" TV series.

The second alien is from the episode "The Raft". Dr. Smith thinks that he has flown back to Earth, but actually has only landed on the other side of the alien planet. When he first sees the alien, he confidently states that he is back on Earth and that this is a species of skunk cabbage.

I've never thrown down so many likes in a thread. So many wonderful aliens that did not come to mind immediately. Certainly the H.R. Giger alien is the king for me and Mathilda May was the ultimate death bringer. She had a profound affect on me in 1985, Lifeforce indeed! Most recently Scarlett Johansson's alien in Under the Skin was horrifying in a most serene way.
Would anyone know what was the first depiction of an alien in film?

Back to total alien terror! Now I know how Squiggy came about.

Love it. Wouldn't you like to work on the Tojo creative team?

Those things from Wrath of Khan that they stick in Chekov's ear. That really bothered me as a kid. And how the little ones were in the backs of the big ones. Very realistic.

It turns out it's name is the Ceti Eel

The Galaxy Being is a standout even today, but I have a soft spot for that green guy from (I think) The Last Starfighter.

H.R. Giger's Alien and the Predator easily win the prize for me. A couple that haven't been mentioned...

The rock monster in Galaxy Quest (despite some bad green-screening)

    Yoda!

Alien from the movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still." When I watched this as a kid, this was totally bone chilling, scary as all get out. Looking at it now, it looks like a human in silver exercise suit (one of those "vinyl" ones that makes you sweat more).
