Yes, one of those tracks from Fillmore, featuring Duane Allman. Awsome.
Also, another vote for Albert King naturally. One of those tracks from the Albums Blues at Sunrise\Sunset. These two really show King in top form. Much more powerful playing than on the earlier Live CD's that were released.

Jimi Hendrix- "Drivin' South"--BBC Sessions. He did it more than once at the Beeb and I am referring to the faster, smokin' version. Jimi was on fire that day.

Midnight Rambler, but not the version on Ya-Ya's. I DL'd a version from 1972, about 12 minutes long, with the slow bluesy part in the middle stretched out to 4 or 5 minutes and Taylor's playing is amazing and the call and response between Jagger and the crowd is electrifying. The Stones really ought to commercially release some of the live stuff from their classic years.

Frampton's DYFLWD. Only song of his I can stand, great guitar.
I like the Trower mentioned just above, but for some reason I prefer the version on Bridge of Sighs.
Prove It All Night-oh yeah, we were totally unprepared for that, and totally blown away. My friend Dan was converted at the moment of the first lick.
Ten Years After-Woodchopper's Ball from UNDEAD. I'm Going Home is great, too, but I've heard it so many times...
Speaking of Woodstock, a vote for Soul Sacrifice.

And speaking of Santana, Samba Pa Ti, from LOTUS. Now that I think of it, Samba Pa Ti wins by a landslide. If you've never heard this version, you must. The guitar work is beyond mindblowing.

John, do you know the source of the 1972 MR? Location?

I agree, the Stones have some staggering unreleased shows, especially from the early 70's. The 1973 Perth, Brussels, and Wembley sets are absolute stunners. Keef and Mick Taylor absolutely blister. They play as if their very lives depend on it. The solos are fast and furious and too many to pick just one. I've never heard Keith Richards solo as good as he consistently does in these sets.

I agree with many of the choices here.Crossroads,Get Your Ya-Yas Out,The Allman Brothers at The Fillmore and Blues Before Sunrise are all great. The best I have seen lately is Richard Thompson in the spring doing a tour with a band. His solo on electric guitar on Can't Win was as blistering as anything I've ever seen and I've seen all of the above artists around the time the records came out.

My friends call me Jeff, you can call me John.;)

New York City was the location. No other info besides year and city, unfortunately.

I have the Perth show. It is great. Also worthy are Essen, Germany 1970 and the famous Hyde Park concert, both of which I have, and a murky Nicaraguan benefit from 1973. The story I hear is that they recorded a live album for Decca in 1972. I have a boot of this and why it never saw the light of day is beyond me.

I've heard about the Decca 1972. The performances, as you've indicated, are rumored to be top-notch. How is the sound of the one you have?
