Slim Harpo-"Baby, Scratch My Back"-a big crossover blues hit in 1966. I used to hear this on the school bus radio in the late 60s.

I'm not sure yet. At least a few more years. As long as there's interest from people on the forum.

Another Detroit area band. Hanna Barbera had a licensing deal with SVR out of Detroit until they folded. The Unrelated Segments moved to Liberty.

A TV jingle that became a pop single. So catchy.

The T-Bones - "No Matter What Shape (Your Stomach's In)

I have no ******g idea what the girls are doing to the guy with the karate outfit in the film clip above.

Pretty good. Never heard her version before. A little different than others I've heard but still very good.

Pretty good. Although you can kinda tell it was written as a commercial. And yeah, the karate guy and the girls passing around a basketball...weird as hell. Old tv was strange.

The Grateful Dead's debut single on the indie label Scorpio. I dig it, man.

Really overtly preachy too. It's not a bad tune but I can do without a sermon in my pop song.

I thought I knew pretty much everything by The Dead but I never heard this. Really great single! Both sides are really really good.

London mods The Action released the single "Baby, You've Got It" in 1966. It's okay. On the other hand, the b-side is a Motown cover, and boy oh boy, between the chiming 12-string guitar and Reg King's phenomenal lead vocal, it's a gem:

    "Since I Lost My Baby"

All-girl garage rock. It's kind of a mean-spirited song, well with advocating violence and all that:

One of Lou Rawls' greatest tunes:

    "Love Is a Hurtin' Thing"

Yeah. That's so violent I can't believe Quinton Tarantino hasn't used it in one of his movies. Still, I liked it. Reminded me of a rougher Shangri-las.
