Oh it is. Believe me. And I pluck away at it anyhow. My only real beef is so little of his mono mixes are available. It's painful.
His discs with Sonny Terry, Big Joe Williams, and Brownie McGhee are musts for a nice Sunday afternoon.
just got this message ...., Hi John, She's finally here! After extremely unsightly delivery delays (we apologize that!), the time has come: The successor of our elaborate 'Next Stop Vietnam' box is now in stock: 'Battleground Korea - Songs and Sounds of America's Forgotten War' (4-CD Deluxe Box Set) BCD17518 is now available! Rockabilly Queen Laura Lee Perkins is dead. She died on 6 April 2018 at the age of 78. Her legendary recordings from the 50s make her unforgettable. We have put them all together on the CD 'Don't Wait Up - Juke Box Pearls' BCD17294. American jazz, blues and pop singer Bill Ramsey turns 87 on April 17. We wish him all the best from here and would like to take this opportunity to draw attention to his many-sided recordings, which are of course available on Bear Family Records: 'Caldonia and more...'' BCD16151 contains English sung live recordings! 'Souvenirs' BCD15672 contains the German singles from 1958-61, then the years 1962-65 on 'Ohne Krimi geht die Mimi...' BCD15818, Jazz on 'Gettin' Back To Swing' BCD15813 and much more on our website! Browse helps! And now have a great weekend! Yours Doc Feelgood
Anyone familiar with Bear Family's Smash! Boom! Bang! German beat/R&B series? I've been looking into some of the more rough-and-tumble entries such as The Boots. These groups had fairly predictable repertoires gravitating around Chuck Berry covers, Willie Dixon blues standards, early soul (especially "Walkin' the Dog"), and contemporary British hits. However, the energy levels between these bands range from tepid to ferocious. Here's an especially crunchy one from the aforementioned Boots: I also like this Bob Wills cover by The Team-Beats: The Team Beats - San Antonio Rose (1963)
I have some of those releases. I really like the Die Ariola Star-Club Aufnahmen box as it’s live from the legendary Star-Club and has some Liverpool groups such as King Size Taylor & The Dominoes and the The Roadrunners.
Interesting idea, but I don't know if Burl's uptempo material came close enough to rock 'n' roll to fit with the rest of the series. Those dramatic story-songs almost became their own subgenre in the mid-50's, other examples being "Beep Beep" by The Playboys and "Black Denim Trousers" by The Cheers.
Lefty Frizzell - Life's Like Poetry [ 12-CD Box Set Bear Family ] | eBay I don’t want to be selfish when I find a good deal on eBay. I’ll share from now on
Good call! A Steve Young box set is probably the most necessary of the artists on that list. If he was involved, hopefully it will include those late period recordings. Makes me wonder if they started the project before Steve passed.
Wow! I knew it was OOP, but never would've imagined that a used copy could be priced so high. Back in the 1990s, the copy I bought cost about $200 sealed and came directly from the BF table which frequented the record shows. That Lefty box set taught me a valuable lesson, don't let your ex wife keep anything and always buy multiple copies!

Why pay $700 for a twelve-disc set when you can pay $2000 for a five-disc one? Just $400 per disc! Ann-Margret* - Ann-Margret 1961-1966: buy 5xCD, Comp + Box at Discogs

So after a long message where I asked the guy to box it up real nice so the post office didn’t mess it up he sends me a message that he put it in a big padded envelope. Well got it last night and box corner was dinged and split because he put it in a padded envelope instead of the box....
