    Have included live albums
    as many songs are non-studio.

I would like to be pleasantly surprised if they command much or any listening these days.
I hope so, because I thought they were entertaining and produced some great tracks.
They were popular in Australia, bunches of those early 45's on Festival are common even
    in great condition.
    This is my favourite.

I like folk music but I've never heard of these.

    Recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

they were big in the 60's and toured continuously, usually with members coming and
going here and there, but the brand continued for decades.
I'd definitely start with the first couple of albums, see what ya think!

What a wonderful and fun band. Huge part of my childhood as they were played a lot on my grandparents and parents record players. After my Grandmother passed away I was given her records that included 5 Rovers albums. I cherish those LPs and the wonderful times they remind me of. As for recomendations I'd suggest The Unicorn, All Hung Up, The First Of, and Tales To Warm Your Mind.

The Unicorn is a treasure but all of their Decca albums are classic. There is more to them than just the hits although a hits comp is a way to get a feel of their music.

From their post-Decca years, Wasn't That a Party is a classic drinking song, but still, their Decca stuff is their classic stuff.

My mom had The Orange and the Green on 45, so I knew who they were but I only have a few of their albums, which isn't enough to really take part in the poll.

Did they do that radio ad "Pour me another one, Irish I had a Schlitz!" or was that a soundalike?

    I think they did it.

For those wanting Greatest Hits comps on either CD or LP, while the Best of CD on MCA in the US has a bunch of non-LP singles and the Upon a Shamrock Shore disc is a great companion volume for the more pure Irish stuff, for those only wanting one comp covering all sides of their talent from the Decca years, go for the Canadian "Greatest Hits" 2 LP/single CD comp with the green cover for a single disc or if you come across the 36 All Time Greatest Hits comp, look for that comp. For a single disc best of for the original hit Wasn't That a Party, track down "Silver Anniversary" or for something in print, get the 50 Years compilation for the original hit of that song. The album itself that Wasn't That a Party is on (The Rovers/Wasn't That a Party) has been on CD but the CD is rare, the vinyl is plentiful though. The only original Decca album that has ever been on CD is The Unicorn.
