It would have to be Paul Williams, but I don't know what size has to do with anything...

These guys were big in the early '90s in the midwest and released a couple of nice CDs. Lori Allison has an incredible voice, IMHO.

John Campbell. He died in 93. I saw him first time at the Horseshoe Tavern once by chance and went to see him every chance I got after that. He was in my opinion one of the most amazing undiscovered blues artists and guitarists I ever saw.

I loved the first album The Year of Hibernation (2011). This song "July" is from that album:

Not "my favourite" but i've been listening to an album by Troy Von Balthazar tonight. He used to be in Chokebore, opened up for Nirvana in 94, has a solo career.
I like Chokebore and his solo stuff even though most of it never really clicked with me.
Turns out I love his last album to date ("Knights of Something", 2016) and I keep getting back to it. I saw him last year (free show!) and he was most excellent.
This album only came out on a small french independent label and it's baffling to me :(

There was a TV show out of Canada called Due South that always had some excellent music that fit the given episodes so well - a variety of music. Due South was a bit of a gem of a show in itself and fits this thread in that it is "little known" and watching it recently I am surprised it holds up so well. Perhaps ahead of its time.

So here are the Canadian band The Crash Test Dummies and their song "Superman's Song"

Ted Hawkins. Only around for a few years in the UK after making it late in life but a cherished live memory.

The single "Watch Your Step" has stayed in my mind for decades:
