I’m sure there’s a thread similar to this one, but let’s have another shall we? Who are your five favorite guitarists? Genre doesn’t matter. Just tell us who you admire the most and continued to be inspired by.

I’ll start (in no particular order):

    David Gilmour -

    Steve Hackett -

    Robert Fripp -

    Andy Summers -

    Bill Frisell -

Honorable mentions: Pat Metheny, Terje Rypdal, John Abercrombie, Steve Howe, Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges, Alex Lifeson, Jim Hall, and Wes Montgomery

  9. Indeed- The Yardbirds are my favourite band and the "Big 3" have never had nothing to do with that.

Page would be probably be around 6,7,8...Clapton probably 10 because of Cream.

Chris Dreja is the epitome of the rhythm guitar player. I wish I could play as steady as him.

Jeff Beck blew my mind as a kid and I always tried to be experimental in that regard.

Leon is so tasty and simple. Check out Sweet Home Chicago on Asylum Choir II or Now Now Boogie on Make Love To The Music

Chuck and Uncle Ted's styles and tones helped me find mine.

  11. As stated above, he was a rock and to me that is more spell binding then shredding a hundred miles per hour. Some guys just can be nothing but the pocket. I have a hard time with that, and I wish after all these years I was better at it. He is the prime example of simple is more.

Gary Moore was easily my favourite guitar player, no one had his combination of: feel, tone, speed and technical virtuosity. A once in a life-time guitar talent.

No one else on planet Earth could play this like he did:

Others I like: Eddie VH, Nuno Bettencourt, Brian May & David Gilmour; but Gary was my fav.

After those 5 monsters, would come a bunch of my freaky California heroes:
Barry Melton, John Cipollina, Stephen Stills...
