I vaguely recall that Slipped Disc, the campus record co-op, had something to do with it but that could be a false memory.

I was there but didn't go to the show because I had other interests at the time/was an idiot.

Deep Purple at The Palace in St Kilda, Melbourne April 27 1999. That venue has since burnt to the ground. I think the venue was hit by a Fireball that sent it Into The Fire. The sprinklers came on and there was Smoke on the Water. Should I stop now???

Had to go to the theater the weekend ahead of the show to get a wristband,
we had to wear those all week before the show. What a show! had seats in
the balcony, close to the front, and it felt like you could almost reach out and touch them. :D

I guess Richard Thompson is not a large artist, even though he should be?
At The Carriage House in Villa Montalvo, seats 300. Saw him 2011 and 2012 there.

    • David Johansen, on the tour from which the Live It Up album was recorded

I saw Dylan at The Palais in the early 90s. He was absolutely terrible. People were walking out way before the encore. I reluctantly stayed till the end hoping that he would spark up. He never did. Got bad reviews at the time. Is that the same show you were at?

I was at all six (in a week)! Most interesting Bob shows I've been to, you never knew what would happen next although neither did Bob's band. Cool seeing the first Idiot Wind since 1976 tho!

I saw Robert Fripp and the League of Crafty Guitarists in my college cafeteria. There were no seats, but they put a carpet on the floor with throw pillows strewn about. It was pretty weird.

I saw Justin Timberlake play a local club the night after he played the arena. The club parking lot had 18 wheelers of equipment, they brought their own mixing board, PA, etc. The sound was the best I've ever heard a live concert and the place was so packed I couldn't make it past the side of the stage - I was coming in through the kitchen in the back. I recommend his Netflix concert movie, the band is really great.

I have seen both the Foo Fighters (in 2003) and Coldplay (in 2001) play at the 320 person capacity Galatos Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand. Jaz Coleman got up during the Foo Fighters set and played Requiem with the band. What a night.

Radiohead for a couple of hundred people at the old Melkweg in Amsterdam in the early '90s.
Also quite a few concerts of Porcupine Tree in their early years in small venues in the Netherlands.

Considering they were playing places like the Olympic Stadium and Riverplate, seeing Guns And Roses at the Augusta Civic Center in Maine on the 1993 Skin And Bones tour was like seeing them in a club. What a crazy show. Axl kept referring to being in such a small venue, which for them at that time certainly was.

Aerosmith in a hotel bar. It was in Tampa and they came back to the hotel after the show and were still pumped and wanted to jam. There were about 10 of us in the bar. Luckily for me, even at that late hour I was sober enough to both enjoy and remember lol.
