Picky, picky. I buy the kernels, pop them myself. That last part is free.

Fury, today. The real deal-- incredibly gripping and super well acted; WWII war porn at its finest and definitely not for the squeamish. It's not often the end of a movie makes my eyes go wide.

I love this kind of stuff because it makes me thankful for every minute I am alive in my "normal" life.

I think it was Lucy starring Scarlett Johannson but I could be wrong. I stopped going to the theater and concerts because 99.9% of the people on the planet are rude.

Last movie in the theater: Stonehearst Asylum, 2 weeks ago at Sunset Cinemas in West Hollywood.

I still go to concerts because I want to help support the artists and I absolutely LOVE seeing music performed live.

I still go to the movies because I don't have a 60 foot wide screen in my apartment.

As far as people being rude at the theater, just do what I do, go to off-time matinees...afternoon in the middle of week, Sunday morning at 11am, etc. Often you can get an entire theater to yourself, or with a small enough crowd you can sit far away from everyone else.

Interstellar last Wednesday, 7/10 (lady on smart phone 1st half, grrrrr).
Fury a week before 7/10 (no audience issues, yea!!)
Gone Girl the previous week 8/10 if you don't think about it too much (no audience issues, yea!!!)

Same here. I think the last movie I saw in a theatre was "Perfect Storm". After that I gave up.

It sounds like a lot of people are complaining about audience rudeness. I have to wonder what kind of things they're going to see, and when. My wife and I pretty much go to see "film" as opposed to "movies" so the audiences are older and even on weekend nights, smaller. Today I went to see Fury at an AMC "luxury seating" theater, 1:30 showing (this is Wednesday). Sixty seats in the theater, maybe twelve of them occupied. I had a reserved a seat fourth row just one seat off dead center and there were two older women, early seventies maybe occupying the seats adjacent to mine. There were a few other single attendees and all attendees were around or past retirement age. Stone-cold silence the whole way through. I think we all got through it in a minor state of "whoa…"

Ditto the expression about the big screen. When I saw the trailers to Fury I knew I had to go watch in the theater. It was worth the entire $6 I spent.

Guardians Of The Galaxy. I take my daughter once a month or so to something she wants to see. Usually a matinee show.

Concessions cost more than the movie.

I never buy concessions at the movie, haven't in at least a decade. I always go grab a light snack prior to the picture. Keeps the cost and the waistline down.

After seeing "Interstellar" IMAX, I can't imagine watching it any other way.

Don't mean for that to sound as snobby as it does, but man, the IMAX-specific footage is just so stunning that anything else would be a disappointment!

Regal sells popcorn for $2 to "Crown Club" members on Tuesdays, and one of the locations near me prices all the tickets at $5 for RCC members the same day, so I got ticket and popcorn for $7. Not bad!

Then you gotta go IMAX for "Interstellar" - a good hour or more of the movie is shot IMAX, so it fills the enormous screen. I'd pay to see a tampon commercial if it was shot IMAX! :D

I usually go to the Chinese Theater in Hollywood so I've got that covered. I love that theater, just going inside the building adds to the aura of the experience.
