We all have our own alternate tracklistings of Monkees albums, mainly because:
    1. Personal tastes
    2. Some of them are badly sequenced
    3. Don Kirschner!
So I'd like you to share yours, so we can all compare them. Here's my alternate PAC&J:

    Side A
    1. Salesman
    2. She Hangs Out
    3. Love Is Only Sleeping
    4. Words
    5. Cuddly Toy
    6. Don't Call on Me (w/o lounge intro and outro)
    7. Goin' Down (single mix)
    Side B
    1. The Door Into Summer
    2. Daydream Believer
    3. What Am I Doin' Hangin' 'Round
    4. Daily, Nightly
    5. Pleasant Valley Sunday
    6. Star Collector (extended version, PAC&J deluxe)

Gone is "Hard to Believe", which I don't really like, and isn't a "real" Monkees track, being only Davy and Kim Calpri, and in is the Daydream Believer single and B-Side, making this great album even greater. I based my tracklist loosely on the real alternate tracklist, making some changes here and there

    Great idea for a thread...

I need to do some thinking.

I always thought PVS should be the lead track. I like side one ending with Goin' Down. I've tossed around kicking off side two with Daydream Believer. In the end I decided not to rock the boat very much at all. I think my side one would have been the greatest side of music for any band in 1967. My perfect Pisces is:

    SIDE ONE
    Special Announcement
    Pleasant Valley Sunday
    She Hangs Out
    The Door Into Summer
    Cuddly Toy
    Words
    Love Is Only Sleeping
    SIDE TWO
    Salesman
    Hard To Believe
What Am I Doing Hangin' Round
    Daily Nightly
    Don't Call On Me
    Star Collector

I wanted BB&M to be a little more commercial, taking a different approach with a mid 1968 album (which I created, but was never actually realized....should have).
As interesting as the actual album was, I think there was some hodgepodgy sequencing that might have turned away some of the fans still hanging around at the time. I also would have had this album out a month earlier. Here's my alternate BB&M:

    SIDE ONE
    Though The Looking Glass (Boyce/Hart)
    Don't Listen To Linda (Boyce/Hart)
    Tapioca Tundra (Nesmith)
    Auntie's Municipal Court (Nesmith)
    Me Without You (Boyce/Hart)
    Carlisle Wheeling (Nesmith)
    SIDE TWO
    Alvin (Tork)
    Daydream Believer (Stewart)
    P.O. Box 9847 (Boyce/Hart)
My Share Of The Sidewalk (Nesmith)
    Magnolia Simms (Nesmith)
    Valleri (Boyce/Hart)
    Goin' Down (Monkees/Hilderbrand)

Essentially turning these two into Mike Nesmith albums? (Not that that's a bad thing!) Even with a Micky or Davy lead on a few of these, the bulk of them are Nesmith compositions and productions. They'd stand up as albums for me, but Don K. wouldn't have approved of album # 1, and Lester Sill probably wouldn't have let album # 2 pass either. I just don't think the powers that be would have ever approved of such Nesmith heavy albums, even though time has proven that a lot of folks like Nesmith's stuff more than what the powers that be "thought" everybody in their fanbase wanted.

HEAD as Peter Tork's album? I think he would have loved that back in '68.

This is a very cool thread! However, it's worth pointing out that there's also an earlier thread with the same idea:

    Alternate/Fantasy MONKEES albums

Mind you, nothing wrong with having more than one thread. I just didn't want you to miss out on what others had posted. (And there are some great choices here, too!) :)
