Your Pick for the All-time Most Famous Movie Character?

    That's pretty sad. I didn't grow up when those characters were around either. That's what watching old movies are for, to actually get to see stuff that came BEFORE you. I guess that's an archaic concept as well.

    Not *the* most iconic, but characters from non-English-language movies that would probably make the top ten:

    Death (Bengt Ekerot!) from Bergman's Seventh Seal. People wouldn't know much about him but his looks, but that look has real staying power.

    A Samurai from Kurosawa's Seven Samurai (probably Toshiro Mifune, or maybe Takashi Shimura). Again, people might not know much about the character, but the image is pretty universal and was popularized in the non-Asian world by that film. IMO.

    Both of these are almost stock characters, but I think their most famous looks would come from these films.
