How about those early RCA victor phonographs, with the horn connected to the stylus. Talk about short signal path!

    Sony TR-63 transistor radio (1957) ?

They have shipped some 1,500 units but its really more symbolic of the birth of a whole new sales channel in audio. So many followed their lead...Pono, PS Audio Sprout, etc.

Check out the 3020b or the 3120. The B to me is the peak version.

I've read good things about the 3020a. What's special about the B?

I wasn't the biggest fan either, but I did hear the originals partnered with a gaggle of Macs finest at one time and was somewhat impressed.

    Seriously?

I have heard them numerous times and thought they were quite good sounding. Had a friend that owned them, and made me want to own them also, but sadly never did. Instead went for a great deal on used Infinity Kappa 9's

Agree. Played thru my Esoteric sa-50 without the myriad of improvements that I can make, make CDs sound very close to SACDs. True a great CD player is in order, not expensive though. IMHO, John M.

    In no particular order.

Sony SCD-1 SACD player - Welcome to the world of SACD. Never owned one, but listening to one led me to buy a Phillips SACD 1000.
Adcom GFA-555 amplifier - First seperate amp i owned.
NAD 3020 Integrated - Bought one with money earned picking peaches for Wawona Farms in the summer of 1982.
Vandersteen 2 - Speakers I grew up listening to were 2A's that my dad bought in 1978.

I remember hooking it up to my dad's C20, and rocking the house. I loved that amp.

I would also throw in the Teac X-1000R reel to reel.

Owned both! Fine products indeed but an LP12 costs silly money now.

Walkman I - bought one when it was released ... Walkman II is likely more well known (and I would have bought it if I had enough $ at the time)
Nakamichi PA5II / PA7II - I have owned several of the PA5II's ... still think they are stunning
iPod - started with the 3rd generation and have owned too many over the years
Levinson 33H - I own them and have absolutely no desire to ever change them
Brinkmann Balance - work of art in so many ways - my last turntable

G'day all, I nominate the Shure 'Dynamic Stabiliser' brush, and the M97xE cartridge (with the OEM stylus) isn't bad either! Actually it's my favourite phono cartridge.

Various ESP audio circuit designs like the P05B, P06, P88, P99 etc. Regards, Felix.

So what is so Iconic about an entry level cartridge, from a company that has produced far more interesting and innovative cartridges than the Shure M97XE. and i might add the stabilizer brush was introduced in older Shure models way before the 97................... Please explain?

    " Silly " ?

The LP12 is actually not that expensive and a great bang for the buck.
