Without putting too much thought into it:

    1. Waterloo Sunset (would love to hear Paul McCartney cover this, and maybe have him and Ringo team up with Ray and Dave for an album and tour as it would also be cool to hear Ray tackle the Lennon Beatles' material)

Big Sky seems insanely popular. I voted for it myself but nobody I know has ever heard of it. Sweet!

Way too hard. And surprisingly few "You Really Got Me"s so far. Off the top of my head, and no doubt will change two hours from now:

    Waterloo Sunset
    You Really Got Me
    Scrapheap City (Maryann vocal)
    David Watts
    Sweet Lady Genevieve
    Too Much On My Mind
    Animal Farm
    Days
    Mr. Churchill Says
    A Well Respected Man

Wait! What? That's ten already? What about Big Black Smoke? Better Things? And the Dave-sung songs? Oh, crap, All Day and All of the Night! This should have been a Top 25 thread.

I suspect the story is apocryphal, but the song is pretty profound, which is highlighted by the promo film with the sudden jumps to clips of nature.

Yes, plenty of other good songs. But I get what he was going for - Waterloo Sunset is incredible. As is Celluloid Heroes, and , oh heck, you have a point too.

That song is extremely overrated. I never cared for it. :hide:

You may not care for it but I think "extremely overrated" may be getting a little carried away.

I'm going to go chronological, since picking only ten is already doing my head in:

All Day and All of the Night - Hey guys, you've just recorded one of the greatest singles of all time. Can you go and do basically the same thing but - I don't know - even better?
See My Friends - Yeah, very nice apocalyptic thrashing there. Is that all you can do? How about some completely different kind of music that we've never heard before?
Rainy Day in June - Okay, now try writing a genuinely scary song. And it has to include elves and gnomes.
Waterloo Sunset - You remember that time you recorded the greatest single of all time? No, the other time. Well, do it again.
Days - Hey Ray, nobody's listening any more. Why don't you just do whatever the hell you'd like?
Animal Farm - I'm cold. Can you write a melody that's like being snuggled by the fire on a winter's night?
Shangri-La - Yeah, Waterloo Sunset was cool, and a couple of years later it's probably still the best single ever released, but. . . DO. IT. AGAIN.
Powerman - Remember that great riff thing you used to do? I bet you can't come up with any more of those. (Hey! One at a time!)
Celluloid Heroes - Well, yeah, that was a pretty good decade, I suppose. But don't you think you're limited by your sheer Englishness, Ray? I bet you couldn't write a song about, say, Los Angeles.
I'm In Disgrace - You were fine in the sixties, but you're getting old now. Past it. No way you could still rock out like you used to in '64.

    Bonus Track:
Susannah's Still Alive - Ah, but without Ray's songwriting you're nothing.

Top Ten... I know it's a cliché but I could make Six more of these and not repeat myself.

    Lazy Old Sun
    Session Man
Love Me till the Sun Shines
    Animal Farm
    Shangri-la
    Do You Remember Walter
    No Return
    End of the Season
    Big Black Smoke
    Dandy

Oh, and 'You're Looking Fine' for best lyrics EVER!

Instead of ten, I'll go with one: Don't Forget to Dance.
