Thank you for the tally. Really njoyed pondering the love given to the various songs.
Think only Zep and the Beatles cross generations. Any other band, like the Stones have detractors.
Besides the music, could it be cause they both stopped and haven't trampled their reputations?
About Coda, for me I certainly have played it more than Presence.

    Nice!

Looks like this didn't turn out to be a "name every Led Zeppelin song" thread after all. As a potential tie-breaker, I'd pick:

"Ten Years Gone" over "Stairway to Heaven"
"How Many More Times" over either "Black Dog" or "Over the Hills and Far Away"
"Good Times Bad Times" over "The Lemon Song"

Only problem is I already voted, twice if you count the thread from a few years ago. Really though, you pretty much can't miss with Zep, so I don't mind at all doing this again...great stuff!

Yeah, I've always theorized that it's likely no coincidence that the Beatles and Zeppelin endure as arguably the two biggest "pop/rock groups" to come out of the last half century. They both had ten year windows where they erupted, paved the way, left consistently great and evolving works, then quit. At the time, the endings were difficult, but I think it has proven that both artists were given a sense of immortality and they remain "forever young" as a result. There will forever remain the "leave them wanting more" factor that works in favor of their mystique.

And I'm one that is personally fine with artists carrying on and doing what they want to do. But I do think the Beatles and Zeppelin's continued endurance is no coincidence.

Add to that both The Beatles and Zeppelin had very high standards of quality as far as what they released went. Only the occasional missteps in their discographies. Other than that their albums are damn near perfect. Freaks of nature, I tells ya!

I'm a sucker for reading these lists - good fun!

I love the diversity of them and knew that some of my least favourite Zep tracks would be in someone's top 10 such as:

Moby Dick, Boogie with Stu, Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp and, probably the worst offender (IMHO) the wonderfully dreadful Hot Dog!!

    :)

    Making a Top 10 of Zeppelin tracks is nigh-on impossible, but I'll met the OP half-way and give my top five... the tracks (in no particular order of preference) that if I had to choose, would follow me to the afterlife;

    1) 'Kashmir'
    2) 'Stairway to Heaven' - don't care how overplayed it is, it's still an utter masterpiece!
    3) 'Achilles Last Stand'
    4) 'No Quarter' - either the studio or the TSRTS ('76) version, I'll take both.
    5) 'Carouselambra' - there, I said it!

What can I say? I love the epics ; no-one did epics better than the Zep... and no-one ever will.

Great choice on the Celebration Day version of Kashmir, to me it is a stunning version of it! Robert killed it that night
