i saw them live in ny in the mid 70's it was such a treat to see that stuff done live in front of you. i recall they closed the show with the lumberjack song with the dead parrot as an encore. what a blast!

I was Grade 11 or 12 at the time of those appearances. I almost left for NYC to see them.

  12. The first ones that come to mind (acknowledging that in a few minutes this could change):

    The Parrot Sketch
    The Mattress Sketch
    Silly Walks
    Interesting People
    The Black Knight (Holy Grail)

when holy grail opened in ny we went. a free coconut was promised to the first 1,000 people who showed up. of course no one had seen the film yet so we didn't know why they were doing it. we got there in time for the first showing at 11 am and there were already 1,000 there. they ended up getting a 2nd copy of the print and canceled what was in the sister theater next door in favor of accommodating everyone. at the end of each showing the entire python troupe were there handing out coconuts. i got mine from cleese. i wonder what i ever did with it.

And now for something completely different: will the Rutles be remastered?

See, every thread at SH's can be turned into a Rutles thread.

Now, I've noticed a tendency for this thread to get rather silly. Now I do my best to keep things moving along, but I'm not having things getting silly. Those two last threads I did got very silly indeed, and that last one about this thread was even sillier. Now, nobody likes a good laugh more than I do...except perhaps my wife and some of her friends...oh yes and Captain Johnston. Come to think of it most people like a good laugh more than I do. But that's beside the point! Now, let's have a good clean healthy outdoor thread. Get some air into your lungs. Ten, nine, eight and all that.

    (Full Frontal Disclosure:

I stole this idea from someone on another forum. Mea culpa.)
