Thanks for the clip on Sam Pekinpah. I never realised that was the name of a truly memorable skit for me. It brought me back to the first time I laughed so hard at something I could barely breathe. The CBC in Canada would play Monty Python on Friday Nights at 11:00 or 11:30. Pretty late but I was 10 or 11 and I could stay up and watch it. I remember laughing so hard at the absurdity and violence in this skit. I got a lot of the Monty Python stuff but obviously the Sam Pekinpah reference was beyond me. Still it is one of those experiences that shaped my sense of humour. For my birthday, I remember dragging my family to see "And now for something completely different". They were not happy before during or after. I had a blast.

I confess I don't remember this sketch, but I burst out laughing when I put the quote together with the title. I can picture Palin or Chapman saying this to a rather horrified Cleese. The power of Python persists.

God, I don't know. I do remember one thing. When I was about 12 or 13, I laughed so hard at the Upper Class Twit of the Year sketch I nearly choked to death.
