Twilight Alehouse and Cinema Show would definitely be in my top ten. I'm kind of torn on if it would be Mad Man Moon or Blood on the Rooftops that would fill in the remaining spot.

I don't think I can name my favorites, but here are my *least* favorite:

    Hold On My Heart
    In Too Deep
    Never a Time
    Who Dunnit?
    Throwing It All Away
    Illegal Alien
    That's All

I strongly dislike the above songs. Anything on Congo is better than any of these.

    The Knife
    Twilight Alehouse
    Cuckoo Cocoon
    Anyway
    Entangled
    Dancing With the Moonlit Knight
The Musical Box (though perhaps I've heard it a bit too much by now)

The OP probably knows that choosing 10 would have been a little easier. :)

It's a really sad tune when you hear the back story...Ant Phillips had the hots for the woman who eventually became Peter Gabriel's wife.
There was a bit of a tussle over it and Ant came off second best. Heartbreak ahoy for Ant.

Great song though. I love 'Trespass'. Not a weak track on it.

Wow had no idea that was the back story to the song.
How awkward it must be for them to create and record that song together.

Trespass has long been one of my favorite Genesis albums--to me, if there is a weak track, it may actually "The Knife," which comes across as kind of juvenile after the dark atmospherics of what precedes it on the album. I didn't know this back story about "Visions of Angels," but that track may be my single favorite Genesis song ever. There is something that moves me in its evocation of both ecstatic beauty and shattering loneliness, all cloaked within a musical and lyrical structure that invites us to read it as a hymn (and possibly, particularly for those of us who are not religious, to re-read traditional hymns from this intensely personal perspective). This was one of those "love at first listens" songs, and my fondness for it has never diminished over time.

Off the top of my head and in no particular order except:

    1 - Cinema Show/Aisle Of Plenty

    The rest:

    Entangled
    Fountain Of Salmacis
    Musical Box
    Supper's Ready

    Must cheat a bit:

Unquiet Slumbers/In That Quiet Earth/Afterglow (hey they all run together like one song)

    Must cheat a lot:

The Lamb album - hey if Supper's Ready counts (a story spread over one entire side of an album, then why not The Lamb which is a story spread over four sides of vinyl?)

If I can only have one side, then side one of the Lamb

If I cant do that either, then I don't wanna play anymore  :p
