I normally don't care for list threads, but as much as I love Zep, it sounds fun to try and come up with a 10 track "Worst Of" album. I'm not using Coda or any live albums. So here goes:

    Your Time Is Gonna Come
    Black Mountain Side
    You Shook Me
    Hats Off To Roy Harper
    Moby Dick
    Four Sticks
    The Crunge
    Dancing Days
    All My Love
    I'm Gonna Crawl

    Got serious last night...
Since I don't own ITTOD, I dug up the 2 box sets (from the early 90's) and played all the tracks.....
and it's pretty bland stuff over all (enjoyed the riff to "In The Evening" a lot), but no way will I buy that album.

    My "Worst Of" comp:

    You Shook Me
    I Can't Quit You Baby
    The Lemon Song
    Hats Off to [Roy] Orbison
    Four Sticks
    The Crunge
    D'yer M'aker
    In My Time of Dying
    Boogie With Stu
    For Your Life
    Fool in the Rain
    Carouselambra

Really the only song I find myself ever skipping over (especially live versions) is "No Quarter." Dunno why, that song just annoys me.

    Hey! Leave them ducks alone!

    Your Time Is Gonna Come
    Livin' Lovin' Maid
    Moby Dick
Whole Lotta Love (have NEVER liked this song)
Celebration Day-like it live, but this studio version...no
    Hats Off
The Song Remains The Same-see Celebration Day
In My Time of Dying-too long by half
Boogie With Stu-the very definition of filler
    Black Country Woman-the same
    Royal Orleans
    For Your Life

    skipping Coda altogether

Your time is gonna come is one of my favorite Zep songs. I wish they had more songs with organ like that in it. I'm surprised how many peie list it as week.

Did somebody ask why the brackets in Hats Off To (Roy) Harper?

I've always assumed that the song's (proper) name is "Hats Off To Harper", and that Roy was inserted in brackets as most of Led Zeppelin's record buyers are American (or were, at that time) and might not have heard of (Roy) Harper, so it was by way of explanation and to distinguish Roy from any other Harpers that Americans may be (more) familiar with. (It is a silent Roy, you are not meant to say the parenthesised word).

(I'm a big Harper fan by the way [Led Zeppelin got me into him])

Any more Harper fans on here Jimmy (Page) plays on a few of his records.

  21. I'll play. Must leave out the last album because I am not familiar enough with it. Didn't like it much altogether when I heard it...

    "Communication Breakdown"
    "Heartbreaker"
    "Moby Dick"
    "Going To California"
"Over The Hills and Far Away"
    "Houses Of The Holy"
    "Trampled Underfoot"
    "Royal Orleans"
    "Tea For One"

I can't be objective about Stairway anymore. I try to not even think about it! Might just be a good song in the end, so I'll leave it alone. The rest of the catalogue is pretty much all right with me (barring ITtOD like I said), so I compiled just a single LP's worth!

I agree and that's how I've always read it too. But it just looks awkward.

    1. I Can't Quit You Baby
    2. Moby Dick
    3. South Bound Suarez
    4. That's The Way
    5. Four Sticks
    6. The Crunge

    8. Night Flight
    9. Candy Store Rock
    10. Royal Orleans
    11. Hot Dog
    12. I'm Gonna Crawl

admittedly, not such a bad album, but if it was their only one, they would be fast forgotten. (Night Flight has grown on me as of late. The Crunge ain't so bad either, but it's far better as a piece of Dazed & Confused and Whole Lotta Love than as a stand-alone track)

Funny how we perceive art differently. Hot Dog is one of their
most brilliant songs IMO. Their ability to create that vibe on piano, guitar and lyrics as a tribute to Rockabilly is awesome.
