    Out of curiosity I compared the CD layer of forementioned SACD with the 1993 RCA release

    and believe both being at on par at least, probably the 1993 release sounding even a bit more "naturally"......thoughts, similar or different experiences from boardmembers ?

    I was not aware of Gilels having recorded for CBS. I only have his recordings on DG and BC ...

    I find that the SACD has greater depth, warmth, and detail, especially through headphones. The Heifetz Sibelius Concerto SACD is reference quality, too.

    I saw yesterday that the Partitas were available as a high rez download.

    Edit - both are available as 96/24 downloads. Not sure about DSD.

    Well, performance-wise, it is reference quality. However, I'm not too happy with the recording. Heifetz's violin should have been louder, which especially bothers me in some faster passages where you cannot clearly hear all the notes he plays. Btw, do you like the Ferras/Karajan Sibelius? That's one of my favorites.
