Nice sound image on this, with a big piano & small violin. Recorded with "a spaced pair of Schoeps microphones, driving a vacuum tube line-level amplifier" & "Wilson Audio's exclusive Ultramaster Recorder, built by John Curl". Half-speed mastering by Stan Ricker.
    Issued 1987.

Apparently the "Ultramaster Recorder" was a Curl-modified Studer two-track.

Enjoyable recital by a couple who can really sing & a great accompanist. A hand-written note on the back says "Received 6/30/69". Despite the price tag, I paid 10 cents.

Thanks. I'm not so worried about Windows 10. I had been worried about when my beloved Squeezeboxes fail (or their abandoned software fails under Windows 12). I hope the transition (to JRiver) will now be painless.

The CD of that sounds pretty good as well.

To me, the interview on DVD was informative. I knew nothing about his youth. And I nearly missed the whole thing (I'm not a lover of other than film/movie DeeVeeDees).

But very unpractical, very: if I keep it as LP's/LP-boxes, then the ceedees fly around inside the box. It must be horizontally...

    A "sidepath"...

I have both Giulini and Klemperer with Philharmonia Orch. LP boxes, and that's one really interesting comparison... ;)

My memory's fuzzy but I'm pretty sure I've recorded David Able once or twice.

It's not bad. Only weird... If you get it cheaply, just get it!

I have at least six cd boxsets, plus several LP (and CD) sets of Late Quartets and Razumovskys and some earlier Op. 18's as well as some individual LP's. And I've thought at least 10 years already, that not anymore of that stuff: enough! Yet... there's always room for a small package of weird stuff... Heaven thanks, the downloads won't take much space :)

I thought Windows 9 will be released next year.

No, they're skipping Windows 9; the next version will be #10, to be released in 2015. Microsoft didn't say why they are jumping from 8 to 10.

    (Sorry to go off-topic)

Staying off-topic momentarily, aren't they finally getting it right? Back in the 90's we had Windows NT 4.0. After that:

    Windows 2000 (Windows 5)
    Windows XP (Windows 6)
    Windows Vista (Windows 7)
    Windows 7 (Windows 8)
    Windows 8/8.1 (Windows 9)

    (Now back to music)

What about Windows 98? That's what my first PC was running on - or trying to... Kept getting the notorious blue screen :realmad:

My assumption was that Windows 95/98/Millennium was an alternate, ultimately dead-end path. (For reasons suggested by your post.)

I didn't mean I recorded for David Wilson, am sure he does fine on his own. David Abel performed a bit in the Bay Area and at the sorts of concerts I tended to get hired for.

Have you ever recorded at the Mills College Concert Hall? Abel & Steinberg taught at Mills.

It's Landowska, so I made an exception. Plus, the recorded sound doesn't bother me as much as it usually does for harpsichord, for some reason.
