Pretenders S/T SACD coming from MoFi

TBA of course for shipping date, but I wonder what tape they're going to use ?

Yeah-Would love BOTH vinyl and SACD but the SACD will go great with my MOFI SACDs of Pretenders 2 and Learning To Crawl!

 

Really excited about this. One of my favourite albums ever. The MFSL Pretenders II & Learning To Crawl are both fantastic.

 

Let's hope for no interference. And that's all I'll say.

 

Well this wold be the sixth go round for me. I'd rather wait and see how this sounds in comparison. No more rebuts for me unless there's a drastic difference.

 

I don't think there will be interference, but I really wonder what "master" tape will be provided to MoFI, and will they assume it's the actual master, because the label said so. Yes, I'm looking at their Live Dead LP.

 

Why don't you think current day MoFi does their own research/confirmation/etc. as to actual master tapes? Some people questioned, for instance, whether the Sinatra SACDs of SWINGIN' LOVERS! and A SWINGIN' AFFAIR! - which had tampered "masters" made by Capitol years ago - would come from the correct tapes before they came out. Those were released correctly from the proper masters - SWINGIN' LOVERS! for the first time in 52 years, no less...

 

Because in some cases, they did releases from later remixed tapes, rather than from the original master tape, which if they had done a comparison with an original issue LP would have been obvious. The Pretenders S/T is a case where the actual master may not be available, with all of the effects in "The Phone Call", and another tape, missing those, may be provided as the "master" to MoFi.

 

Love anything by Mobile Fidelity, a great company.

 

Love this album -- have been listening to the WG Target for the last few weeks ... Always surprises me how fresh and fun this album comes across.

 

Do folks like MoFi's Pretenders II ? I had high hopes, but I found it a bit of an unexciting listen in terms of the sound.

 

I liked it. There's only so much you can do with the recording itself.

 

Music Direct appears to be shipping this title.

 

I might pick this one up.

 

Does the WG Target have a different mastering from the early silver face US Sire pressing?

 

From what I have read here, it is identical ...

 

I have both. The EAC readings are identical.

Will be interesting to compare the MoFi with the HD Tracks download and of course, the Audio Fidelity gold CD.

Got this in every damn format but cassette and 8-track. Yup, I love this album!

 

There is absolutely nothing "audiophile" about the AF gold disc.
