Luckily it's available as a 24-bit download, too. Nice collection.

I find Angela Hewitt a bit cold relative to Marcelle Meyer. Her Rameau is heavenly....
Her Rameau recordings were recently reissued on Erato!

I purchased a number of the EMI pianist box sets a few years ago before I retired. The Meyer box is the one that's easiest to listen to the music through the noise from older recordings. Not that there's less noise, but her performances shine through and I just focus on what she's playing.

I agree! That is a fantastic set - desert island for sure! So much to explore in that box set. As soon as I heard her Rameau I was mesmerized. It sounded like soft rain falling on the keyboard. I had never heard anybody play the piano like that before.

    Sounds very interesting.

Edit - looks like the Barto is on Spotify, but not the Meyer (although they have quite a few other recordings by her).

It's just a straight reissue from Warner (as they own most of the classical stuff from EMI).

All the classical stuff from EMI is owned by Warner; the Warner Music Group acquired the entire EMI Classics division.

I bought this CD a number of years ago. I actually attended a performance of the NYPO with Barto and Sir Colin Davis some 15 years ago at the Carnegie Hall.

I'm assuming the new remaster is 24/96, so I'm sticking with the old CDs until a high-rez download is available. It's a great set!

Nice! I just read a rave review of his new CD that includes various works based on Paganini, including Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody.

I have a huge classical record collection, with lots of rarities, but I have yet to find any Marcelle Meyer.Considering the prices her records bring,it really isn't any wonder.
