Barto is built like a young Schwarzenegger with tremendous stage presence but was incredibly agile with his piano playing in concert.

Yes, there's some beautifully delicate playing on that Rameau disc.
He's had a rough life--cocaine addiction (at least one or two arrests), then his 16 year old son died a few years ago. His death caused Barto to kick his cocaine habit.

While Meyer's Rameau was unavailable on Spotify, they had quite a few recordings by her.

What are some notable recordings of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos that are easy to find on vinyl?

This is a wonderful collection of rarely recorded (a few are premieres) of lesser-known works. Great sound too--even captures some of Carmignola's breath intakes!

I still have a handful more CD's to go before I am done with the box for a first pass. I probably bought the box over two years ago.

I found the sound on this CD sounds somewhat distant, i.e. like playing in the next room ...

I should check this out. I already have quite a few CD's by Carmignola. It is nice to see he recorded some lesser known Vivaldi pieces ...

There quite a few discs in that box that I'll never listen to more than once

A very good recording, especially the SQ and the playing of the orchestra. Maazel does a very decent job.

When you have a large collection of recordings, many will rarely get more than one listen. That is just the fact of life. Perhaps that is why there are folks who are contented with listening to their local classical FM instead of having their own collections ...

Certainly, I feel that way about Spotify. In fact it is an improvement on FM as I can still pick what I listen to. And every so often I hear something that I know I will listen to multiple times in the future, in which case I will purchase it. Most recent case - the Biber Rosary Sonatas.

Of course I still have a substantial collection. But that is getting less attention given the wealth of music on Spotify.

I know; especially the harpsichord. Very reverby. It sounds to me like when they mixed it they only had the reverb on and left out the actual harpsichord track.

Keeping a substantial classical music collection and living in NYC can be challenging ...

It sounds like the recording equipments were located in a different room. Fortunately, I have other much better recordings for these works ...

Just sampled Marcel Meyer's Bach. Can't say I cared for it.

This 2-discs features virtuosic playing, great sound (although it differs among the pieces), and a great value.
