...he said, with his customary reserve.

Seriously, I've been collecting 78s for decades--I started with 78s before I ever owned an LP--and it's a very rewarding hobby.

    Just made a bad mistake.

Having some unexpected time at home, I took down our (artificial) Christmas tree today. Played an entire morning's recital of Milhaud while I was at it: the two piano concerti, the concerto for two pianos, Carnival d'Aix, Scaramouche, the Etudes for Piano and Orchestra, Le Boeuf sur le Toit (affectionately known to me as The Boof on the Roof)...

Now my right eye sees green and red, my left blue and pink (and the images aren't quite in synch), and my feet keep breaking out unpredictably into sambas. :help:

But, wait! I know the perfect antidote!

Jordi Savall is appearing at Juilliard tonight, but I can't attend. So I'm listening to Marais at home to make up for it.

I always tend to like Bohm over Karajan. The interpretation sounds more authentic and less rushed.

Like to hear Abbado's take on the Tenth, but that might mean buying a CD player.:sigh:

The 1980 Simon Rattle on the UK vinyl has been my only exposure to the work.
