Yes - but when the Quintet starts, after the first four notes I want to sing, "All around the town."

Anyone can suggest me a good recording (sound/performance) of the Brahms Clarinet Quintet?

Karl Leister (clarinet) Brandis Quartet in Brilliant's Brahms Chamber music box. Don't know if Brilliant is the original recording company, recording was made in 1996, has excellent sound.

Looks like this was originally a Nimbus release. Meanwhile, I really like the recent Tokyo Quartet SACD on Harmonia Mundi with Jon Manasse

Karl Leister with the Amadeus Quartet.

Edit - I have Martin Frost performing the other three Brahms clarinet works on a BIS SACD. It might be worth checking out his version of the Quintet.

These CD's are no doubt in the following box, which I bought a few years ago right after I had bought the Hogwood box ...

I only got the earlier partial Hogwood and Pinnock sets with the later symphonies because I'm not interested in the early stuff, which, to my ears, is hardly worth it.

Some folks prefer the Hogwood box while others prefer the Pinnock box. I just decided to get both and they provide very good contrast to the Mackerras box ...
