    They are pricey, yes. Worth it, definately IMO. Known for classical and voice reproduction but handle any genre really. I recently added a REL subwoofer which helps with low end information for alternative rock (QOTSA, RATM, etc) and some classical. Can listen for hours without any brightness or fatique. Very musical and touch of warmth with excellent imaging . Yes the 7es3 are large bookshelf speakers (2 way) essentially. I think they are rated down to 40 Hz or so. Room treatment and room size are very imprortant too. I played the 7es3 in a large size room and was not impressed at all. My room is small/medium sized and match very well. For larger rooms I believe the HL5+ model is prefered...

    Nice! What do you think of the performances? And the mastering?

    I listened to Wispelwey play the Bach Cello suites (his second recording.)

    I like the performances (but I have no other set). I was listening on my third system (which has very awkward speaker placement), so I am going by memory on the mastering, but I never had a problem with it (the Double Decca).
