Lonson I'm in the kitchen with the Tombstone Blues

Klien and Mozart are a fascinating combination for me. Love this stuff.

The CD version of Volume 1 is OOP, but last time I checked it was available for download from the Gimell website.

Since I do downloads, that's how I would buy it. I seem to recall that I already had half of volume 1 which is why I didn't buy it. I'll have to look to make sure before it goes OOP as a download.

Has anyone noticed the Bach in Subaru's latest Legacy ad campaign?

I wonder if there are many followers of David Hurwitz at CMC. I certainly do not follow him ...

This CD is identical to the following single, which is in my collection as well.

Three, 4 disc boxes. Each is a compilation from each decade the Tallis Scholars have recorded. I'll probably eventually regret buying volumes 2 and 3. If I want to buy what's missing, I'll end up duplicating some of it. That's why I'm not buying volume 1. I checked and I have over half of it already.

I pretty much have all the Tallis Scholars recordings so the big box will not do anything for me ...

[IMG] I got this volume of the series Saturday. Despite the label it plays fine.

Yeah, this CD has to be among the 71 in my box and I spent less than $1 per CD as well, though I bought the box new ...

I read his reviews sometimes & find them entertaining. Thanks to my terrible memory they don't influence my purchases, because by the time I'm buying I've long since forgotten them.

I read an article by Norman Lebrecht and was really turned off by his sarcasm and negativity ...

No problems with this one either. Ashkenazy conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in Finlandia, Karelia Suite, Luonnotar, Tapiola & En Saga. Horst Stein conducts L'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Night Ride and Sunrise, Pohjola's Daughter & Four Legends From the Kalevala.

The Stein recordings (or at least some of them) are included in the Decca Analog box. I have most (all?) of the Ashkenazy recordings on the twofers with the symphonies. They all have good SQ.

I do read some of his reviews, but I'm certainly not a "follower".

Listening to Abbado's DG recording of the Reformation Symphony. Definitely one of the highlights of the box.

I follow him only on Mahler recordings, although I'm certainly not forking over $49 to read the "insiders only" reviews. I do have his book:

There's no hint of sarcasm in this book.

When I discover an arts critic with whom I agree 100% of the time, I can stop posting my opinions and just post his or hers. Unfortunately, that is unlikely to happen (although I must admit, I was on the same wavelength as Ben Brantley, the NY Times drama critic, quite often prior to this season).

Having said that, there are critics, such as Alex Ross, who are always interesting to read, even when I disagree,
