The Malcolm Binns' recordings were made in the 70's. Right?

I like it quite a bit. Right up my alley as to a modern style.

It's pretty much at the threshold of my tolerance. For that sort of work, I prefer Corigliano's or Gubaidulina's Violin Concerto (the newer one--"In Tempus Praesens").

I should sample some on Spotify. Although, I know it may historically inaccurate, it's hard to imagine some of Beethoven's Sonatas played on something "lighter" than a modern piano.

ImportCDs is having a sale. Rachel Podger's set of concertos (on a Channel Classics SACD) is in my shopping basket. I already have her disc of double and triple concertos.

Re-introducing myself to Dufay. Before last month, I hadn't had any of his music in my collection since I sold my LPs of "The Art of Courtly Love" in the 1990's.

I may be wrong, but I think it is unlikely that the new Glenn Gould Box will contain any of the six DVDs included in the Glenn Gould Bach box, and also unlikely that it will contain the 4CDs of radio and TV performances in the Bach box. I do not own the first edition of the Complete Original Albums Gould box. If it contains the 3 interview CDs that are in the Bach box, then I expect those to be in the new box. If not, then the interview CDs are not likely in the new box. The new box appears to have one CD not in the original box. That may be the outtakes CD that is in the Bach box, maybe not.

The new box is unlikely to completely duplicate the Bach box. DVDs, TV, Radio and maybe more will likely be unique to the Bach box. The new box is not "the complete" Glenn Gould. It is original LPs maybe plus a little bonus, all remastered.

More to the point, this is the 'Great Pianists' issue of Schnabel playing Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. Wouldn't mind hearing the Naxos reissue, have a good copy of the Seraphim LP reissue from the seventies. Used to have the Pearl transcription. Wonder what a thorough de-clicking would do for Pearl's unfiltered copies. Always loved the irascibility of this performance. And it sounds like he fully rehearsed this work before recording. The playing is 'cleaner' than usual.

I listened to that disc and the last two from the box, Bordesholmer Marienklage. I was afraid the Bordesholmer Marienklage wasn't going to be that good because there would be too much speaking in a language I don't understand. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be with only two extended speaking parts. It was still too much speaking for me to listen to it much.
