There is a "Turkish Connection" with Atlantic founders Ahmet & Nesuhi Ertegun and arranger/producer Arif Mardin, who long worked for Atlantic.

So you should know—found an Onkyo TX Sr 606 for $50 at a thrift store. So the Frankenstereo is now the Frankensurround and frankly, sounding much better. So far, got my biggest surround kicks from Iannis Xenakis - Volume 5 - La Légende d'Eer on Mode, in the DVD-Audio version. Absolutely engulfing. Has a wonderful selection of still photographs, hundreds of them, from the initial presentation. This can only be described as a light show, though very possibly one of the all time greatest light shows.

Although this one's a non-classical issue, must also mention the semi-aleatoric videos on Beck's 5.1 DVD-audio of "Guero".

Never thought of myself as a'geek' before, though that does help explain the topknot and uni-brow.

Daedalus I haven't heard it all.....

But you could probably get into any concerts without a ticket.

Found this for $1 today...happy to rescue it from the "bin of despair" and put it in my collection. I really like the Poulenc Concerto for Organ, Strings and Timpani.

I'm quite fond of Le Chasseuer Maudit. Desiree Defauw made a fabulous recording of the piece with the CSO for Victor late in the 78 era.

I thought this might be the place to ask this, but do you guys have recommendations for Beethoven recordings that adhere to Beethoven's metronome markings? I was trying to find who all have recorded versions of these. From what I could find online, Benjamin Zander and John Eliot Gardiner come up. Are there any others worth checking out?

If this deserves it's own thread then I can start one.

I only have one Defauw/CSO recording, of Franck's "Redemption" and it's on a CSO historic recordings compilation CD. In all of my record hunting, I've never come across a single Defauw recording, unfortunately.

Defauw and the CSO recorded an excellent Borodin Symphony 2, once available on LP, RCA Camden CAL-172. On the jacket they are only identified as the "Century Symphony."
