A near random selection from Rasputin's, music I wasn't exposed to previously for next to nothing. 50¢ in this case, with packaging covered with un-removable stickers from the Santa Clara Library. Sound is very good. My favorite stretches of these symphonies remind me a lot of Prokofiev's Scythian Suite at its most harmonically acerbic. As far as I can tell, composer Giya Kancheli was born in 1930 in Georgia, the Second Symphony being greeted with much critical praise and repeat performances upon arrival:

The CPO label is well-known for promoting many relatively obscure composers ... :righton:

The Big Question is: when that Gregory dude visited me? However, i have to thank him not to draw my spectacles - it may be the case that someone may not recognize me in that pic... ;)

Yep, news and other shorties. However, my eyes like a lot more of black ink on white paper than tiny backlit screen.

Unfortunately, the price to pay for super-sizing the fonts is endless scrolling. But there is no free lunch in life ...

With a book, I only have to turn the page! :)

(And what's more, a book is readable also in sunshine, like on the beach, and on an island without the electricity - not a problem for me who's living on a lakeside & therefore in no need for a cottage on the island. Only flipside is the need of some light in the nighttime.)

After the Debussy moment (Jeux by Boulex & New Philharmonia Orch.) it's time to enjoy this:

One of the sad things of the recording industry is that Erik Bergman's work is recorded only randomly. I've heard some great works from him. Even the Finnish Broadcasting Company doesn't provide their originally taped recordings on their site. I'm sure their still have those tapes, but for some reason they keep them hidden.

This afternoon on a beautiful Memorial Day afternoon....

I loved this music the first time back in my college days, and it was probably this record...on vinyl, of course.
I had forgotten this is a stereo only SACD. Sounds great for its age.
