Exactly. But someone unlocked it. I explained everything in post 560, but I guess they didn't read it. It's ironic, because the whole purpose was to minimize confusion.
Excellent performance by the Czech Philharmonic under Vaclav Neumann, though the press quality of the LP (from the mid 70's) is on par with some of the better American pressing but no match against the Philips or EMI from the same period ...
Now playing CD57 - Bach Brandenburg Concertos 1 - 3 by Tafelmusik/Jeanne Lamon for a perfunctory first listen. Fortunately, this is just filler material in this box, which really has some gems by the likes of Leonhardt, the Kuijkens, Bylsma and Vellard, etc ...
That's why my iPod goes with me in the car. My car's CD player also plays mp3s so I have a CDR in there with six albums of mp3s. I really don't like the radio. I listen to WETA a few times a month at most.
This de Sabata guy was supposed to be a big deal in his time. According to Karajan's biography, de Sabata was one of the conductors that the young Karajan had paid lots of attention to ... This is just my second listen after having purchased the twofer some thirty years ago.
It is. She really finds a great balance with theses pieces. Boulez also but that goes without saying considering how influenced he was by the composers.
Been listening to this triple-LP. The band is quite ok. And the pressing is almost acceptable. Unfortunately on side 1 there's additional distortion the last 5, perhaps 7 minutes (I didn't bothered to listen to the end). No good. Otherwise very enjoyable, yet I'm almost certain that this is the last classical LP (set) I'd buy as new. (Actually, after that set I haven't bought many new LP's because I don't think it's financially wise to buy overpriced 180-gram LP's that are at best only good pressings: long live 140 gram LP!!!)
I hear you. This is zero chance I will ever buy another LP. I am happy with the 4000 some classical music LP's I already have. I last bought LP's around 88 or 89 ... BTW, I thought this New Year Concert by the VPO used to be released by DG everyyear. Has Sony taken over?
Actually, they have released also the 2014 and 2015 concerts as LP's. But that 2013 "experiment" (of mine) was quite conclusive. i have bought some pop lp's, though.
I've understood that there's some sort of rotation going on. They obviously don't want to make any Big Company jealous, so they give them all a chance.
So it could be WarnerMusic next year ... Some equal opportunities here or is the Euro anti-competitive commission watching the VPO?
Among other things, he conducted the legendary 1953 Callas Tosca. Edit - you just picked my next disc.
