Loose Cannons, starring Gene Hackman and Dan Aykroyd. The least funny 'comedy' I can think of that hasn't already been mentioned.

I forgot Russell Brand in my list, though besides that Arthur remake not sure what else he has done. I just find the guy as funny as a dial tone.

I know it isn't a movie but my wife loves this show. I find it a horrible waste of everything. I believe it is on CBS on Mondays at 9 - if so, Lucille Ball must be spinning in her grave knowing this is what is on in her old time slot.

My friend seems to buy any comedy movie dvd that comes out and insists on lending them to me so I can watch them too.
I can't count the number of comedies I've tried to watch and ejected after only 20 minutes.
And then once in a while....a great one comes along like Superbad.

I ( thankfully) only saw Welcome To M0oseport once but Gene Hackman or not, my memory is that the movie was a total snoozefest.

I'd also add Snow Day, which had Chevy Chase in it, but I don't remember him actually being the star in it. It looked to me like he owed the director or somebody a favor so he dropped in for a few days (bad) work. :D

I have seen Brand on late night talk shows, and he's awesome. But his movies don't interest me at all. A remake of Arthur- how was this ever going to be good?

Most comedies I've (partly) seen on Netflix/TV are unfunny. Especially the ones that try their best to be funny (Dodgeball, that time travel hot tub movie, The Hangover) hardly get a chuckle from me. Of course it's the hardest category of movies to make; is relatively easy to gross out people with horrorflicks (Human Centipede) or make people cry with begging children and sick puppies, but making people laugh is a hard thing to do.
The movies that do that most successfully with me are the deadpan ones (Airplane! Spinal Tap) or have a fine combination of a fine cast and a spirited script (Midnight Run).
Come to think of it; I find Midnight Run a funnier movie than most Monty Python movies!

True, but he seemed to do OK in the U.K. as well.

Any of the "Focker" films. Although, to be honsest, I've only watched "Meet the Parents" and found it unbearable, I can't imagine that the sequels were any better.

Also, "Anger Management". What was Jack Nicholson thinking when he accepted this turd?

I liked the remake more than the original. I think the original "Arthur" is pretty terrible! :hide:

"MTP" had some funny moments, but "Meet the Fockers" was unmitigated garbage. All that talent - flushed down the toilet! :shake:

Wet Hot American Summer (2001). Just saw it for the first time and thought it was extremely lame.

Pineapple Express... to the point that I should ask, was it supposed to be a comedy? The few minutes I caught included a scene with Danny McBride that may have been the most painfully unfunny bit of film I have ever watched.

I could barely sit through Bridesmaids. My wife thought it was hysterical but I barely cracked a smile the whole film. Docked more points by marking the introduction of Melissa McCarthy as the obligatory "Obnoxious, Overweight Buffoon". I shudder to think what she will do to the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot.

Midnight Run is my favorite "all-around" film of all time. The chemistry, the "Hollywood Magic"... and yes, HILARIOUS. No other film has that tone. One of the, if not THE most quotable comedy of the late 80s.

But it's also dramatic/action, etc. It's everything. Perfect.

Now here come two words for you...

Movies I know are lauded but I just don't think are funny at all (tried each at least twice):

    Some Like it Hot
    Dazed and Confused
    Wet Hot American Summer
